G-Dragon’s Peaceminusone join forces with Nike to release a new collaborative silhouette this December

Kwondo 1, the highly-anticipated collaboration between G-Dragon’s Peaceminusone and Nike finally has an official release date. After teasing limited-edition versions for close friends and families, the K-pop star and Big Bang leader announced that the collaborative silhouette will hit stores on December 3, 2021.

Accompanying the release date announcement is a 30-second clip showcasing the new show. “Meet every version of you. If you accept all versions of you, then you will feel freedom,” says G-Dragon in a voiceover as he sports the Kwondo 1 down a runway.

The sneaker comes in a white leather upper with wingtip brogue details on the toe boxes, borrowing Nike designs such as the Nike Tiempo and the classic golf shoes. As versatile as its creator, the shoe also has a removable flap tongue and lace kiltie so that it can be worn in two styles, balancing a formal and sporty look.

Topping off the design are Peanceminusone’s signature daisy logo sits on the back tabs while Nike’s logo is detailed on the tooling and aglets. According to Nike and G-Dragon, the design evokes a sentiment of freedom and brings creativity and innovation to the growing community of sport.

“I want to feel free with the way I wear and style clothes, in addition to everything else that I do. I hope that people can overcome stereotypes and feel free in their own way by wearing the Kwondo 1,” G-Dragon shares in a press release.

The footwear is named by combining the Korean martial arts, Taekwando, G-Dragon’s real name, Kwon Ji-young and Nike’s slogan, Just Do It. This marks G-Dragon’s third collaboration with Nike after the Para-Noise and Para-Noise 2.0 in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Nike hopes that the shoe will inspire the diversity of styles and breaks the barriers between identity and culture, just like G-Dragon himself.
