adidas Originals X Kanye West Yeezy Boost shoes

The Yeezy Boost is shaped like a traditional basketball shoe but stands out for its suede upper and thick white outsole, among other signature details.

Kanye West and adidas Originals have announced the release date of their highly anticipated kicks.

The Yeezy Boost is due to go on sale in New York City stores on February 14, in the midst of both NBA All-Star weekend (February 13-15) and New York Fashion Week (February 12-19).

The rapper, producer and now designer has made sure the collaboration got the buzz it deserved, namely by tweeting a link to Yeezy.supply, a website with a countdown to February 12.

Now it seems sneaker fans will have to add two more days to the countdown. Adidas Originals announced on Tuesday, February 10 that the Yeezy Boost will only be available from February 14 in a very limited edition in New York City.

February 12 is not the date of the shoes' world premiere, though, as the rapper unveiled them to the public at the Grammy Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles, and they are already on display in the windows of the adidas NYC flagship store on Houston Street.

Few details have been released regarding the shoe itself, except that it features the three-stripe brand's famous Boost technology and is designed to combine performance and comfort.

In terms of aesthetics, the Yeezy Boost is shaped like a traditional basketball shoe but stands out for its suede upper and thick white outsole, among other signature details.

The sports outfitter has not indicated the price of the shoe, nor how many pairs will be produced. Kanye's fans will be able to pre-order their pair soon -- possibly on February 12 -- through a dedicated mobile app released by adidas through the AppStore and Google Play.
