See this exclusive edit of all the new creations by Maximilian Davis for Salvatore Ferragamo
Earlier this year, London-based designer Maximilian Davis was announced as the new creative director of the Italian luxury brand, taking over from Paul Andrew. After much speculation on what this would mean for the label, Davis answered the question in the days leading up to Milan Fashion Week 2022 in September.
In this new chapter, a new logo designed by Peter Saville was released, under which Salvatore Ferragamo was shortened to Ferragamo and inscribed in classical script inspired by those on ancient Roman stone artefacts.
He also debuted his bold, colourful spring/summer 2023 collection—featuring a deep red that he has now claimed—at a spectacular show held in a 17th century neoclassical palace and former monastery with fashion industry icons including Naomi Campbell in the front row.

Ahead of the official release, a curated selection of this exciting collection, aptly named A New Dawn, will be available to purchase. Tatler breaks down the highlights.
The ready-to-wear offerings pay homage to Salvatore Ferragamo’s past designs for Marilyn Monroe. Davis infuses languid sensuality and a contemporary energy with daring fabrics and finishes, such as harness detailing, as well as elegant silhouettes. “I wanted to pay tribute to Salvatore’s start by bringing in the culture of Hollywood – but new Hollywood,” says Davis.
Following the metaphor of a new dawn for both the brand and the designer, this collection also incorporates a warm palette reminiscent of sunrises that plays perfectly into Davis’ intent to celebrate the Italian brand’s timelessness and its direction forward.
Davis also introduces several new accessories. Standouts include the Elina shoes with graphic Gancini heels as well as a high-shine finish and re-proportioned reinterpretation of the archival Wanda handbag.
