Online retail giant Matchesfashion.com opened their second town house in London on September 3. Before you rush to visit the brand new space, here are five things you should know now about 5 Carlos Place

1. Three decades in the making

5 Carlos Place is a special milestone for Matchesfashion.com, as it marks three decades in the business for the British retailer.

The company first opened its doors at a brick-and-mortar store in London's Wimbledon Village, and has since grown into a powerful e-commerce business that carries over 400 designer brands and ships to over 170 countries around the world.

2. Location, location, location

Housed in a beautiful building in the heart of London's Mayfair neighborhood, bordering the picturesque Hyde Park, Matchesfashion.com's new retail, event and creative broadcasting space spans over 5,000 square feet across six stories at 5 Carlos Place.

3. From digital to brick-and-mortar

Providing a physical shopping experience, the exclusive edits found online by brands such as Valentino and Vetements will literally be at your fingertips. There will be three floors dedicated to private shopping suites, and two floors of retail space.

But don't expect any permanent fixtures or rows and rows of clothing rails—the nature of the space is ever-changing, catering to special events, designer trunkshows and seasonal displays.

4. Take a peek at the programme

Like we said, the luxury shopping destination isn't just a shop. It's more of an experimental space that will house various events and programmes. To celebrate their opening, they've launched an exclusive menswear and womenswear capsule with Prada featuring an installation by Robert Storey of Storey Studio.

London Fashion Week will see plenty of parties, podcasts and livestreams for your fix of cultural innovations in this space. Sign up on their website for events from panel talks to book signings—the first is with photographer Mario Sorrenti for his recently published book, "Kate", which features never-before-seen photos of the supermodel Kate Moss.

5. Speedy delivery

A visit to 5 Carlos Place doesn't neccessarily mean you will be walking out with shopping bags. The space will focus on mobile point-of-sales, so you can pick out an outfit from the physical stock or one of the numerous iPads in the townhouse, and have it delivered to any central London location within 90 minutes.
