From a Sicilian wedding in custom Chanel to sold-out stadium stages, these looks capture the glamour, experimentation and bold contrasts that have made Dua Lipa a global style icon

Dua Lipa’s wardrobe has never stayed in one lane for long. Over the years, she has moved between body-conscious silhouettes, sharp tailoring, romantic gowns and playful statements, building a fashion vocabulary as recognisable as her music. Recent highlights include a bespoke Chanel wedding gown embroidered with nearly half a million beads for her wedding to Callum Turner, an optical illusion print dress for her brand launch and a series of polished red-carpet looks in between.

As Dua Lipa celebrates her 31st birthday on August 22, these looks trace the range of her style, from wedding celebrations and fashion weeks to premieres and major events. She moves between drama and restraint without settling on a single formula—one reason she remains one of pop’s most distinctive fashion figures.

1. Maximalist pattern-clashing and ’90s streetwear

A study in trend-stacking, Dua Lipa layers an oversized pinstripe blazer over a relaxed white Oxford shirt and camisole bodysuit with a leopard-print midi skirt. The contrast works because the tailoring gives the competing prints structure, while the yellow Louis Vuitton Speedy bag acts as a deliberate colour accent rather than another competing pattern. Knee-high boots and Tom Ford sunglasses complete the ’90s-leaning styling.

For her wedding ceremony at Villa Valguarnera in Sicily, Dua Lipa chose Matthieu Blazy’s first bridal design for Chanel: an open-back halter gown with a fluid, body-skimming silhouette and an elaborate feathered hem. The dress took 1,155 hours to create, with 480,000 beads hand-embroidered across the gown and 25,000 feathers applied to the hem. A crystal-and-feather headpiece, worn with her natural waves, brought the intricate look together.

3. A London civil wedding suit by Schiaparelli

For her private civil ceremony, Dua Lipa swapped the traditional bridal gown for a custom ivory Schiaparelli suit by Daniel Roseberry, defined by sharp shoulders and a lace bustier underlay. The structured tailoring created a strong contrast with the oversized Stephen Jones saucer hat, while white opera gloves and a Bulgari Serpenti necklace tucked into the lapel added a distinctly old-Hollywood finish.

At the Selfridges London launch of her skincare brand, Dua, the singer chose an archival Kim Shui butterfly-print lace qipao from the Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Its Mandarin collar and teardrop chest cutout gave the traditional silhouette a contemporary edge, while a feather-trimmed Jacquemus bag and archival Dior crocodile-embossed boots introduced contrasting textures. Sleek centre-parted hair and glazed skin provided a clean, polished counterpoint to the look’s intricate textures and bold accessories.

5. Cobalt tinsel fringe in a plunge gown

For the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, Dua Lipa wore a Gucci long-sleeved gown covered in shimmering cobalt-blue fringed fabric. The plunging draped neckline and sheer, fluid fringe gave the silhouette movement, while a platinum Bulgari choker centred by a canary-yellow diamond introduced a sharp colour contrast. Stacked pavé rings and loose mermaid waves completed the look without competing with its most striking element: the saturated blue finish.

Supporting husband Callum Turner at the premiere of One Night Only, Dua Lipa wore a custom black Ferragamo gown, balancing a plunging halter neckline with a dramatic low back and cascading silk fringe. The fluid fringe brings a flapper-era reference to an otherwise sleek silhouette, while Bulgari Serpenti bracelets and diamond snake-head earrings add a dose of sculptural shine. A pulled-back ponytail and defined ’90s-inspired lip sharpened the finish.

7. Sculptural couture at Paris Fashion Week

Dua Lipa’s appearance at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2025/2026 show demonstrates fashion’s evolution toward wearable art. Her floor-length white gown by Daniel Roseberry featured exaggerated shoulders and intricate overlapping white fabric that created a texture akin to exotic feathers or mythical scales. The signature Schiaparelli keyhole cutout on the chest added the house’s surrealist touch. With hair styled soft and easy, accessorised only with black-and-white orb earrings, this look signals fashion’s future as architectural sculpture.

8. Evening sheer holiday glamour

On a European holiday, Dua Lipa showcased how sheer eveningwear can feel both refined and approachable with a halter-neck gown in black lace. Styled with beachy waves and dewy make-up, the look transforms what was once considered overtly daring into sophisticated vacation glamour. Her approach points toward a wider trend: airy, delicately layered fabrics for occasions well beyond the red carpet.

9. Authentic Y2K revival

In a viral mirror selfie, Dua channelled early-2000s nostalgia with a cropped black leather jacket and low-rise denim jeans. A black leather belt with an ornate silver buckle, slung low on the hips, emphasises the jeans’ distinctive cut. This is a full-immersion uniform that brings Y2K staples into the definitive casual look of the 2020s.

10. Intentional juxtaposition with Valentino

This hyper-feminine strapless pink mini dress with black polka dots and ruffled tiers from Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection became a styling masterclass through deliberate subversion. The dress’ inherent sweetness was challenged by sheer black tights, boots, the Chanel 25 bag and black-rimmed glasses. The pop star demonstrates the trend of intentional contrast—mixing sweet with tough, classic with quirky—to create personalised style statements.

11. The ‘It’ item salad: mastering trend stacking

Combining multiple concurrent micro-trends into one cohesive look, this outfit showcases the art of trend stacking. A black tank top featuring a gothic font slogan paired with a ’90s satin slip skirt with a high slit, layered gold necklaces, oversized sunglasses and a standout fluffy lilac handbag creates visual harmony from disparate elements. Hair slicked into a clean bun and minimal glossy make-up complete the polished finish. Dua Lipa demonstrates how to navigate fashion’s fast-paced, Internet-driven micro-trend cycle with sophisticated editing.

12. The new power casual look

Captured in transit, this ensemble redefines power dressing for the modern era. A classic black blazer paired with a cropped white T-shirt breaks traditional corporate codes, while black leather Chrome Hearts trousers with subtle embossed patterns add edge. Statement Christian Louboutin heels featuring multi-coloured stripes complete the look. This look moves away from masculine-inspired suiting toward an expression of authority that mixes high fashion, street style and workwear elements.

13. Luxe leisurewear by Chanel

This three-piece Chanel Spring/Summer 2025 knit co-ord in pastel green and pink stripes signals the rise of designer leisurewear as luxury statement dressing. The set includes a top, a matching cardigan with embellished buttons and coordinating shorts. Elevated through a baby pink quilted Chanel handbag and stacked wristwear, this look combines ultimate comfort with designer credentials. It also establishes coordinated knit sets as the new uniform for off-duty moments.

14. Romantic body-con with historical flair

This black off-the-shoulder crop top demonstrates the future of body-conscious dressing through historical romance and modern sensuality. Dramatic bishop sleeves with ruffled cuffs and tie details evoke piratical flamboyance, while a wide sheer lace panel across the midriff transforms the piece into a contemporary statement. Styled with a sleek high ponytail and sculptural silver hoop earrings, Dua Lipa’s look forecasts a trend of playing with contrasting silhouettes and different fashion eras.
