Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has looked to lands far beyond the maison’s home base of Paris for inspiration. This time, the designer has set her eyes on India as the destination to showcase the fashion brand’s fall/winter 2023 collection.
The fashion show will take place at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, a monument that’s steeped in history. Built in the early 20th century, the landmark originally marked the arrival of King George V in 1911. Following India’s independence from British colonisation, the Gateway was also the site of a parade in 1948 to celebrate the departure of British troops.

For its upcoming fashion show, Dior will honour the rich craftsmanship and heritage of India, paying “a tribute to the visionary spirit of Christian Dior and his successors who had a profound admiration for this country,” said the maison in a statement.
