The adorable mom-and-son duo takes on The Shoppes in fun fashion, going from Gucci Kids, Ralph Lauren Children and Kids21, to Miki House and the freshly minted Ralph's Coffee
“Who’s that baby in the window?” exclaimed multiple passersby during our shoot at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands one sunny Monday morning. That baby was Skyler Tan, Chloe Ng and Sherman Tan’s vivacious 13-month-old. “He took his first steps at eight months, and started running just a few weeks after that—and we’ve been trying to keep up with him ever since,” expresses Ng, who is currently eight-months pregnant with her second child.
Zooming in and out of boutiques across the luxury children's precinct, the little man was spotted playing cute little games of hide-and-seek with mommy, from playing peek-a-boo from behind racks of Stella McCartney Kids clothing at Kids21, to hiding behind furry animal mannequins and popping in and out of the circus-themed changing room at Gucci Kids. “He picked out the denim jacket himself, and he can’t let go of those Gucci slides either. He can’t talk yet but we know it’s all because he sees daddy wearing oversized jackets and those exact slides all the time”, she muses. “The trick to dressing him up is letting him have free reign of choosing what outfit he wants—we usually let him pick one piece, and we’ll then match the rest. We’re not sure how much longer this method will last but it’s what works for now”.

“He’s also hungry all the time,” Ng adds, crediting his immense energy to a constant flow of milk and the occasional sweet treat, and his regular afternoon naps of course, which Skyler gladly skipped amidst the joyous chaos of this video shoot.
At Ralph Lauren Children, Skyler didn’t waste any time grabbing outfits and accessories to try on for size, specifically selecting the brightly coloured options, including a rainbow-hued checkered button down shirt in the American brand’s signature preppy style. “He wears quite a lot of Ralph Lauren Children. Their designs are timeless and come in soft, comfortable fabrics that he’s happy to run around in, and I just like to get multiples in different colours!” she adds. Classic wardrobe pieces like fuss-free cotton t-shirts fill up Skyler’s wardrobe too, seeing that he needs to be changed throughout the day given the level of activity he gets up to. A go-to destination for high quality kids staples is Japanese kidswear brand, Miki House. Their Gold Label collection caters specially to little ones with sensitive skin with its ultra-soft women fabric fashioned from sought-after Kaito “sea island” cotton.

Skyler also helped mom shop for herself at the new Ralph Lauren luxury concept store, with him physically picking out top handle bag options to match the gorgeous Purple Label collection pieces that caught her eye. The two then breezed into Ralph’s Coffee, a freshly minted cafe by Ralph Lauren, where they took a breather to indulge in a peanut butter & jam cookie and a slice of blueberry streusel loaf cake, plus a hot, creamy Ralph’s Coffee for mom. On an adorable sugar high after a tiny bite or two, Skyler sprung back into playing peek-a-boo with more passersby through the window, before taking calming swigs of his milk that put him right to sleep in seconds.
“From shopping and events to dining out with family, I take Skyler with me everywhere now because I want to savour these precious one-on-one moments as much as I can, before our second one comes along”, Ng enthuses, as she cradles the sleeping little boy in her arms.
