Calma took an active role in a photoshoot with Tatler Philippines, striking bold and avant-garde poses that captivated the room. His whimsical nature exploded through every layout. He moved with such freedom and playfulness, the team could hardly contain their smiles. Clearly, he is a creative to his core–his fashion a direct reflection of his beautifully chaotic brain, bubbling with ideas and emotion.
In fact, he handpicked his wardrobe, in all its eclectic, unabashed glory. From textured suits, to chunky shoes, sheer fabrics and a pleated skirt, each look was delightfully striking and each paired with a gorgeous pair of frames or shades. Growing up surrounded by a family of architects, he has developed an almost uncanny instinct for creativity. “Your eyes and taste become more discerning, and you develop your own sense of style and ability to think critically,” he says of his upbringing. “A good designer should be decisive.”

This easily seeps into his choice of eyewear with Vision Express. “I like glasses that have quirky elements or architectural details,” he explains, the latter a direct nod to his work. This, in addition to his preference for wooden frames, also reflects his appreciation for raw materials, intricate lines and texture, which form the metaphorical cornerstone of his sense of style. “I think of my dad’s eyeglasses collection—he loves round glasses similar to the architect I.M. Pei,” he recalls of his father.
