From Gucci to Rolex, explore how leading Bollywood icons are becoming the new faces of European luxury fashion today
These days, it’s not unusual to see one of Mumbai’s biggest actors trading film sets for Paris Fashion Week, fronting a campaign for a European fashion house or arriving at a high-jewellery launch dripping in pieces worth more than most people’s homes.
For years, Bollywood celebrities were largely associated with brands looking to win over audiences in India. Now, the biggest names in Indian cinema are becoming global ambassadors for some of the world’s most prestigious fashion, jewellery and watch houses. Stars aren’t simply wearing the brands anymore; they’re becoming part of the fantasy, helping fashion houses introduce their heritage and craftsmanship to a whole new generation of fans. And if Bollywood has taught us anything, it’s that a little glamour goes a very long way.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas: Bulgari and Rolex
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has secured two of the most significant luxury endorsements in the industry. In 2021, Italian fine jewellery house Bulgari named her a global brand ambassador. In this role, she has featured in global campaigns alongside figures such as Anne Hathaway and Zendaya, representing Bulgari’s high jewellery collections and philanthropic initiatives.
In 2026, Swiss watchmaker Rolex appointed her as a global brand ambassador and Testimonee. This partnership is notable within the industry because luxury houses rarely permit ambassadors to maintain simultaneous contracts with competing watch manufacturers. The dual endorsement underscores her international standing, built across a career spanning both Bollywood and Hollywood projects. Rolex cited her artistic achievements alongside her fifteen-year commitment to Unicef when announcing the partnership.

Alia Bhatt: Gucci
In May 2023, Italian fashion house Gucci announced Alia Bhatt as its first Indian global brand ambassador. The announcement coincided with the brand’s Cruise 2024 runway show in Seoul, where she made her official debut in the role.
Gucci’s selection of Bhatt aligns with the house’s strategy to strengthen its connection with younger, globally minded consumers. Following her appointment, she has represented the brand at major international fashion events, featured in global advertising campaigns and attended Milan Fashion Week presentations. Her role reflects Gucci’s targeted effort to build a sustained presence in the Indian market while leveraging her global reach, establishing her position beyond Bollywood on the international stage.
Deepika Padukone: Louis Vuitton and Cartier
Deepika Padukone holds global ambassadorial roles with two major luxury houses: French trunk maker Louis Vuitton and fine jewellery house Cartier. In May 2022, Louis Vuitton named her its first Indian global ambassador. She had previously appeared in a 2020 campaign for the brand, but the formal appointment solidified her role in global ready-to-wear, leather goods and footwear campaigns.
Shortly after her appointment at Louis Vuitton, French jeweller Cartier named Padukone as a global brand ambassador in October 2022. She regularly represents the brand at high jewellery launches, international red-carpet events and gala presentations. As one of the highest-profile figures in Bollywood, her dual partnerships demonstrate how luxury conglomerates utilise established screen icons to anchor global marketing strategies across multiple product categories.
Ananya Panday: Chanel
Ananya Panday was named the first Indian brand ambassador for French luxury house Chanel. The appointment represents a notable shift for Chanel, a maison known for maintaining a highly selective group of global representatives.
Panday’s association with Chanel began with appearances at Paris Fashion Week, where she attended high-profile runway shows. Chanel highlighted her alignment with evolving youth culture and modern consumer tastes as key factors in her selection. Her inclusion in Chanel’s ambassador roster signals the brand’s intention to connect with Gen Z demographics in emerging luxury markets while expanding its footprint in South Asia.
Sonam Kapoor: Dior
Sonam Kapoor was appointed as a South Asian global brand ambassador for Dior, representing the collections designed by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Long known as a prominent Bollywood fashion icon, Kapoor has maintained a presence at international couture shows and red-carpet events for over a decade.
Her partnership with Dior builds upon the house’s historic connection to India, which includes its landmark Fall 2023 show held at the Gateway of India in Mumbai. Kapoor’s role involves attending international runway presentations, promoting key collection releases and participating in brand events across Europe and Asia. Her endorsement reinforces Dior’s commercial and cultural focus on the region.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Longines
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan maintains one of the longest-running endorsement deals in the luxury sector. Swiss watchmaker Longines appointed her as an ambassador of elegance in 1999, establishing a partnership that has lasted for more than two decades.
Unlike recent short-term endorsement trends, her special relationship with Longines represents a sustained brand relationship. She has fronted numerous global campaigns for the watchmaker’s signature collections, opened flagship boutiques worldwide and represented the brand regularly at the Cannes Film Festival. Her continued association with Longines highlights the longevity and commercial stability of established Indian cinema icons in the global luxury market.
