One look at this year's Golden Globes red carpet and you'll notice a little something different. For the 75th edition, nearly all female stars donned black in support of the Time's Up movement to raise awareness for gender equality, after the cultural upheaval Hollywood faced over sexual harassment scandals the year before. But black doesn't have to mean boring—from Margot Robbie to Millie Bobby Brown, here are the stars that won our style vote.

Margot Robbie

We expected nothing less from Margot Robbie who chose a relaxed yet chic number from Gucci. The star nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for  I-Tonya wore a hammered satin plunging dress with shoulder pads for a look that's still comfortable enough to get through the long ceremony.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

We can always expect something edgy from Jake Gyllenhaal's sister. The actress nominated for Best TV Drama Actress for The Deuce opted for a fringed, sequinned Monse jumpsuit. While it's not the first time we've seen her in a pant look, this shimmery number is certainly one of our favourites.

Dakota Johnson

Star of the Fifty Shades saga and presenter for the night, Dakota Johnson has a princess moment in an embellished Gucci gown, complete with plenty of tulle and silver embroidered details.

Kerry Washington

Scandal star Kerry Washington sparkles in a hand-embroidered sequin strapless dress by Prabal Gurung with a daring slit and Roger Vivier mesh booties. Her husband, a former football star, actor, and producer Nnamdi Asomugha made a rare appearance alongside the actress on the red carpet for the special occasion.

Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things starlet took to the red carpet in a custom Calvin Klein black duchess satin dress with a back as beautiful as the front. The young actress, who made waves last year for her stylish yet age-appropriate fashion choices, was joined by her fellow teen stars who looked equally dapper that night.

America Ferrera and Natalie Portman

Fellow women's rights activists and actors America Ferrera and Natalie Portman came as dates to this year's ceremony. Pregnant Superstore actress Ferrera paired her sequinned floor-length Christian Siriano gown with a loose blazer while Portman, who presented the Best Director award, channeled Victorian-era vibes with a velvet Christian Dior gown with a square neckline.

Zoë Kravitz

Zoe Kravitz and her co-stars (Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern) were awarded Best Miniseries or TV Film for their work on HBO’s Big Litle Lies, and she made a shining statement in her simple strapless gown from Saint Laurent paired with oversized emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. Many celebrities chose emeralds for their jewels at the Golden Globes as it is a precious stone that signifies justice, growth and harmony.

Claire Foy

Known for portraying Queen Elizabeth II in the hit Netflix show The Crown, Claire Foy may be spotted looking perfectly poised in elegant ball gowns and skirt suits in the show, but for the Golden Globes she opted for a sleek Stella McCartney tuxedo with Harry Winston jewels, which complimented her slicked back hair.

Diane Kruger

Hollywood starlet Diane Kruger made her first red carpet appearance with her boyfriend Norman Reedus at the Golden Globes, but it was arguably her flowing semi-sheer Swiss-dot Prada gown and cape that stole the show. Kruger has turned to Prada many times for special red-carpet occasions in the past, including her 2017 MET gala dress and Cannes and Venice film festivals.

Susan Kelechi Watson

Known for her part on NBC’s This Is Us, which was a nominee of Best Drama TV series at the Golden Globes this year, Susan Kelechi Watson attended the Golden Globes in a wide-legged sequined jumpsuit with a deep V neckline, styled with a Tyler Ellis clutch, pointed pumps and jewels by Narcisa Pheres and Hueb.

Alica Vikander

Alicia Vikander is an actress handpicked by Nicolas Ghesquière to front Louis Vuitton campaigns, so it came to no surprise she turned to the French house for her black Golden Globes dress. Vikander wore a custom made open back gown made of silk, encrusted with black beads and metallic threads. She kept her hair away from the face and topped off her red carpet look with a pair of Bulgari Serpenti stud earrings.

Isabelle Huppert

The French actress who won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for the movie Elle last year presented the award for this year's recipient Frances McDormand for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in a Chloé gown with sheer sleeves and dripping in beads.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role in The Wizard of Lies, Michelle Pfeiffer chose a tulle and feathered gown with a belted blazer by Dior Haute Couture, worthy of the 5-time Golden Globe award nominated actress.

Angelina Jolie

Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet with her son Pax in a flowing, feathered custom-made, Atelier Versace gown with a sheer overlay, demure yet glamorous enough to make a statement.

Saoirse Ronan

After cementing herself as an actress to watch with a nomination for her role in Brooklyn in 2015, Saoirse Ronan took home the gold this year as winner of the Best Actress Award in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical for her role in Lady Bird, and stole the show in a custom Atelier Versace gown with angular Swarovski silver crystal mesh accents and a subtle train.
