Embodying Tatler’s codes of creativity, confidence and taste, the honourees of Asia’s Most Stylish make fashion their own

For over than 20 years, Tatler has defined the standard for fashion with Asia’s Most Stylish, the exclusive list that gathers the best-dressed individuals who recognise the power of fashion to convey a message, reveal emotion or simply transform an ordinary day into something special.

Asia's Most Stylish 2023, which is now available online and in the September print editions of each market, names 50 honourees from Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan, chosen for being the embodiment of Tatler’s style ethos of creativity, confidence and taste.

This year’s edition places emphasis on presentation, choosing to photograph subjects against a clean canvas, a creative direction that shines the spotlight on each honouree, allowing them to fully express their individuality and personalities, while putting style—the clothes, the accessories, the many details—in focus.

The result is a dynamic portfolio: see the pixie face of actress Hsieh Ying-xuan engulfed by a chubby blue blouson; the sneaker-clad foot of six-year-old Skylar Raymond-Foo balancing atop a retro TV;  or the ultra-stacked boots that lift Parisian model Suzi de Givenchy to dizzying heights.

Fashion knows no boundaries

Tatler editors and executives have handpicked a wide range of fashion lovers, each of whom experiences and exhibits style in different ways. The list presents The Collectors, who are known for their taste in curating fashion objects; The Bestsellers, who have become the conduits of style through independent shops or concept boutiques; The Creatives, who are the talented makers of fashion itself and the visuals of the moment; and The Bridges, who connect different communities and identify upcoming talent.

In the Philippines, movie star, singer and entrepreneur Anne Curtis represents The Front Row, the beautiful creatures who are always top of mind in fashion. In Hong Kong, illustrator Andrew Mok, whose signature headphone accessories piqued the interest of Pharrell, is part of The Ingenues, the next generation of style stars defining the new cool. And in Taiwan, sustainability hero Steven Ko, the CEO of beauty company O’Right, is named under The Galanistas, the scenemakers who champion original style.

Rounding out the list are The Rebels, the breakers of stereotypes and champions of diversity; The Avante Garde, the innovators who marry style and technology; and The Icons, the individuals whose good taste never goes out of fashion.

Asia’s Most Stylish is a celebration

Style is also a family affair as seen in Singapore, where the Leo family—father Lionel, mother Tina and twins Julien and Brandon—are all named to Asia’s Most Stylish. Founders of music collective Frshoff, the twins have soaked up style in a free-to-create household and now apply their artistic sensibilities to what they wear.

In Malaysia, brothers Trunan and Terimunite Chandran emulate their father, the fashion designer and style icon Bernard Chandran, as they explore all facets of dressing through personal jewellery, hats and eyewear. Similarly, Bryan Loo and Sally Quah, the husband-and-wife duo behind bubble tea giant Tealive, share a passion for collecting sumptuous pieces—for him, watches and her, whimsical minaudières—to complete their creative identity.

Style is for everyone to enjoy. Let the bright lights of Asia’s Most Stylish lead this month’s celebration. Never miss a moment: Connect with Tatler on our social media channels across the region to view exclusive content from this year’s honourees.
