Ayala Malls reveals plans to further luxury retail in 2022 and 2023 after the successful renovation of Greenbelt 3

Among the many establishments open to Filipino shoppers in the Metro, Greenbelt stands out as one of the most luxurious. Even its name conjures sophistication, with the understanding that here, one can expect nothing but the best of the best. Be it with family or friends, Greenbelt has become the go-to destination for the urbane and the cosmopolitan. With plenty of high-end stores available for browsing, Greenbelt has become the top-of-mind luxury lifestyle purveyor. As in the words of Ayala Malls president, Chris Maglanoc, “Greenbelt is not just a mall, it’s an experience.” And it’s an experience that those at Ayala take very seriously.

In 2021, Greenbelt 3 became the talk of the town after it was unveiled with all-new flagship stores from the likes of Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Off-White, and more. But that was not the end of Greenbelt 3’s plans. This August, two new brand names opened their doors. Jimmy Choo will be ready to take on excited shoppers looking for popular items such as the pearl studded Aura 95 heel, the Liya 65 leather mule and the sought-after Madeline cross-body bag. Loewe will also present its pre-fall 2022 campaign starring the likes of Kaia Gerber, Anthony Hopkins, and Maya Nakanishi.

Ermenegildo Zegna, which is slated to open in September, introduce a fall-winter collection that includes sweaters and coats in shades of creamy white and sophisticated grey. Roger Vivier, on the other hand, has a planned opening date sometime in October.

Beauty brands such as Clé de Peau Beauté, La Mer and Estée Lauder have also staked their claim onto Greenbelt territory, opening branches and boutiques that are first-in-the Philippines.

“All the brands that opened with us saw the potential of the shopping market here in the Philippines, of how it started and its rise from the past years,” shares Mark Anthony Sablan, strategic leasing head of Ayala Malls. “[Greenbelt] is located in the heart of the Makati central business district, a stone's throw away from nearby hotels and a short drive from the airport, thus making it a top luxury retail destination.”

Despite the plight of retail amid the pandemic, luxury has seen a recent boost in sales. People seem to have adapted to the new normal, as well as the lifestyle and the indulgence that come with it. “Revenge shopping really showed the last quarter of 2021 when we opened and it has been a steady growth for all the brands ever since,” adds Sablan.

With this in mind, Ayala Malls is already looking to expand its reach and reinvigorate Greenbelt 4. In keeping with the times, it envisions Greenbelt 4 to “reflect the revamped look for our luxury wing”, according to Sablan. He adds, “We are to bring a mix of staple, classic and sought-after luxury brands in the Philippines that will definitely keep our customers excited with their offerings.” These include well-established stores that are
ready to bring their latest collections to the Philippines. It will now be easier for those in the country to keep up
with the latest global trends in luxury.

These updates are set to happen throughout 2022 and 2023. The new space will see Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod’s, Bottega Veneta, Givenchy and Prada.

For their part, Salvatore Ferragamo will introduce Greenbelt shoppers to their latest line; one filled with colourful totes and sleek leather shoes. Tod's has also promised to carry its popular style of platform loafers, thong sandals, and eye-catching micro bags for local clientele. Givenchy will host Matthew Williams' latest design aesthetic of sharp, tailored feminity in their Greenbelt boutique. And lastly, Prada will proudly carry both their menswear line and their womenswear line for those looking to update their wardrobes.

According to Ayala Malls, there are plans for Gucci to be given a more prominent location alongside Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and Balenciaga. A new store, never before opened in the Philippines, will join this powerful roster of brand names. Faure Le Page, a fashion concept that will surely entice shoppers, also promises to woo Filipino clientele with "weapons of seduction".

"We are mindful of the evolving consumer and brand standpoints," comments Maglanoc. "The reinvention of the retail experiences of our clients is vital. We have meticulously planned Greenbelt so that the world's best brands in our establishment are a significant factor. Thankfully, we have enduring relationships with merchant partners whose confidence, belief, and trust we enjoy to this day."

In the end, Greenbelt sees itself continuing a legacy of a "prestigious convergence point for fashion, art, architecture, and nature". Its constant reinvention and effort to bring the best of the best to the Philippines have been rewarding both for Greenbelt and its consumers. Moving forward in 2023, Filipinos can expect to visit—and revisit—Greenbelt more and more.
