There is less than a month to go before Adrian Cheng’s K11 Night. Here’s what to expect from Hong Kong’s biggest fashion and art celebration of the year
New World Development CEO Adrian Cheng and fashion icon Carine Roitfeld, founder and director of the CR media brand, have joined forces to bring an exhibition of haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion to K11 Art and Cultural Centre in Hong Kong’s Victoria Dockside. Savoir-Faire: The Mastery of Craft in Fashion will open on December 13 and will showcase works from the world’s biggest designers plus rare pieces from Roitfeld’s private collection.
Ahead of the opening, Cheng will host K11 Night, a spectacular party at K11 Musea, which will bring out the city’s most dazzling stars for a night of couture and camaraderie. Already dubbed “the Met Gala of Asia” by organisers, the event will be a major cultural moment for Hong Kong, where art, fashion and culture will collide to dazzling effect.
Here’s everything we know so far:
Where is it?
The party will take over the sixth floor of K11 Musea’s Art and Cultural Centre. There will be multiple entertainment zones and experience spaces for guests to enjoy. The attendees of the night will be the first to experience the exhibition in person, and we’re hearing there will be an epic photo opportunity before entering.
There will also be a simultaneous event at the Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood Hotel in Paris, hosted by Roitfeld herself. A livestream between Paris and Hong Kong will begin at 11pm when Cheng and Roitfeld will officially open the exhibition together. The Paris event will include Jean Paul Gaultier, Naomi Campbell, Daniel Roseberry, JW Anderson and many of the creative directors who have gowns on show in the exhibition.
Which designers are taking part in the exhibit?
Schiaparelli, Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Chanel, Givenchy, Valentino are just some of the heavyweight labels participating. There will also be a silent auction with pieces from Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent and Chloé up for grabs, with proceeds going to Unesco and the K11 Craft and Guild Foundation.
