Prince Charles and Italian fashion retailer Yoox Net-A-Porter just collaborated to create a sustainable clothing line, read on to find out more

Prince Charles and his “buy once, buy well” belief had led him to promote sustainability in fashion. Having a hand at a fashion line is definitely not a shocker for those who have closely kept watch and seen some of Prince Charles’ most stylish looks, from three-piece-suits to bespoke sleeved shirts and chinos. Now, he teams up with YOOX NET-A-PORTER to create a meaningful capsule collection that many will want in their closets.

The partnership between Prince Charles and YOOX NET-A-PORTER is actually for The Prince Foundation’s new project that caters to young designers and manufacturers. The Modern Artisan Project “promotes high-end textile skills among young craftsmen”. In fact, students in Italy are tasked to design each piece and young graduates from Dumfries House manufacture the clothes. The goal is to teach young artisans traditional skills and helpful insight that will help them along the way.


For every ready-to-wear luxury piece sold, profits are sent straight to The Prince Foundation. This means that every hardworking students’ efforts are all the more, worthwhile — they get knowledge, experience, and funds to support the training program. What is earned from the luxury collection will be used to “develop and deliver training programmes that will help preserve traditional textile skills.”


For more than four decades, Prince Charles had been fighting for a sustainable future for fashion. Which is why the materials used in his capsule collection are all organic. The cashmere and wool were acquired from Johnstons of Elgin, a Scottish textiles firm. Organic eco-silk was also sourced from Centro Seta in Italy.
