As the mercury rises, these are the essential items that will keep you looking and feeling fabulous through the heat

Whether you're heading off on a summer getaway or beating the heat and humidity in Singapore, keep your cool while amping up your wardrobe with these warm weather fashion and beauty essentials.

Marie France Van Damme Maxi Dress

My go-to outfit in the summer has got to be maxi dresses. They’re easy, stylish and comfortable even on the hottest days - just throw the dress on with your favourite sunglasses and flat sandals and you’re good to go, or dress them up at night with stacks of jewellery and heels.

Missoni dress

Nothing screams Summer to me quite like Missoni. The iconic patterns mixed with bold colours make for the perfect ensemble, be it for lounging by the pool or being on the go.

Self Portrait Dress

To say I’m obsessed with this new label from designer Han Chong is an understatement. His beautiful dresses that combine the femininity of lace and sheer panels with boyish details and structured silhouettes have been a conversation starter each time I’ve worn them, so be prepared to answer a lot of ‘Who makes your dress?’

Eugenia Kim straw hat

This tongue-in-cheek hat from NYC designer Eugenia Kim has been a holiday favourite. When I have this on, you know it’s #vacationmode!

One-Piece swimwear

One-Piece swimsuits are so versatile in that they can be even more stylish when worn out of the water, paired with a pair of shorts or a maxi skirt. Dolce&Gabbana, Marysia and Zimmermann are my swimwear picks this season. Photos courtesy of Net-A-PORTER.

Water sportswear

Summer is of course also the perfect time for water sports that may require more sturdy swimwear. Lisa Maria Fernandez combines functionality and style for any aquatic adventures.

Cover ups

These are an absolute essential while on holiday as they not only provide modesty when needed, but are often what I wear all day long in lieu of cumbersome clothes. Favourites include Marie France van Damme’s silk chiffon caftans, and Miguelina’s crochet jumpsuit.

Beauty essentials

I could not survive the summer without this Amorepacific sunscreen. It provides heavy duty protection while feeling extremely lightweight and moisturising on the skin. Most importantly, it does not leave a white cast on your face like many sunscreens above SPF 30 tend to do. One of my pet peeves is reapplying make-up during the day, so anytime a make-up product describes itself as ‘long wearing’ or ‘budge proof,’ I have to give it a try. The MAC Liquidlast Liner really does live up to its name as it will not budge under any circumstances, and by any I mean even after scuba diving!

Dior Technologic Sunglasses

I’ve been wearing these Dior Technologic Sunglasses in both the gold and silver mirrored versions virtually every single day during the Summer months. Photo courtesy of Dior.

Gladiator sandals

Gladiator sandals have been all the rage this season, and no-one did it better than roger Vivier’s high-shine statement sandals.
