From stunning restaurants, to up in the air venues and scenes amidst nature, here are the best places in the city to pop the question
Looking to pop the question? Planning a proposal can be nerve-wracking––other than finding the perfect engagement ring, you also have to look for the best place to get down on one knee. Thankfully, we're spoiled for choice here in Hong Kong. With stunning restaurants, nature spots, sunset views, beautiful gardens and more, there's so much to choose from.

Aboard the Aqua Luna
What better way to propose than seeing the full glory of Hong Kong's sweeping skyline? On the Aqua Luna, you can pop the question in the most romantic setting possible either with their Evening Harbour Cruise when the ride starts at sunset to see the sparkling city lights or their Late Cruise where you can snuggle up over a drink.
On a Helicopter
Another way to propose while getting the best views of the city is up in the air. Enjoy a full bird's eye view of Hong Kong's skyline with an exhilarating helicopter ride. You'll depart from The Peninsula's rooftop helipad and soar over the beating heart of the city, across its famous landmarks and even see glimpses of the outlying islands. This proposal is guaranteed to impress.
On a Private Yacht
Venture into the open sea to ask the question. Plenty of private yachts and boats are available for rental––with some like Poseidon Yachting accommodate special requests for proposals. Their package is usually a night charter that starts at Victoria Harbour with a welcome drink, a romantic dinner, overstay stay and delightful breakfast.
Love the water and already have a scuba-diving licence? An underwater proposal accompanied by our diverse marine life will make a splash. Diving companies such as Splash Hong Kong and Diving Adventure have weekly diving excursions that you can join in to pop the question underwater.
If you're both fan of nature or love hiking, there's no better way to propose than being surrounded by nature. Hong Kong has a plethora of beautiful hiking trails––we recommend Sunset Peak for the stunning and glorious sunset views. The silver grass around the trail makes up for extra romantic points.
How to get there: Take Lantau bus 11 from Tung Chung. Alight at Pak Kung Au

Get that sought-after yes at one of Hong Kong's picture-perfect waterfalls. Our top pick is Hong Kong's most famous pool, Bride's Pool, and despite its haunting legend, the views over the waterfall are magnificent. It's a little oasis secluded in the heart of the forest which makes for a perfect location to drop on your knees.
How to get there: On public holidays and Sundays, bus 275R takes you directly from Tai Po Market to Bride’s Pool. On weekdays and Saturdays, green minibus 20R travels between Tai Po Market Station and Ride’s Pool Road. Checking the minibus schedule is recommended as they don't run that frequently.
Cheung Sha Beach
The crystal-clear waters and sandy beaches of Hong Kong offer not only the perfect place to chill out but also to pop the question. Away from the gleaming skyscrapers, soak in the beauty of Hong Kong at Cheung Sha Beach, one of the city's most beautiful beaches. The peaks of Lantau Island as a backdrop will lure you in, perhaps even a great alternative to the exotic locations in Thailand or the Philippines now that travel's on hold.
How to get there: Take the ferry from Central Pier 6 to Mui Wo, then take bus 1 or 2 to Cheung Sha.
The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
A classic choice but still a good one is to propose at one Hong Kong's hotels—we recommend The Ritz-Carlton's "520 I Love You" accommodation package. You get to enjoy an upgrade to the Deluxe Harbour Room and romantic in-room amenities. A bath ritual and breakfast for two at The Lounge & Bar will also seal the deal.
The Upper House
The Upper House is another option if you want to pop the question during a staycation. The secret garden provides an intimate space and dreamy views during that ultimate moment. Choose from The Lawn which boasts lush greenery or at the Sky Lounge against a backdrop of the city lights and sunset.
We've often heard that Paris is considered the city of love and romance––but with travel on hold, consider a French alternative right here in Hong Kong. Enter Petrus, perched on top of the Island Shangri-La to pop the question. Serving French cuisine with interiors adorned with old fashioned chandeliers, opulent artwork and commanding views of Hong Kong, you'll have everything you need here.

Louise is both Instagram and proposal material. Once you step into this two-storey restaurant at PMQ, you're instantly transported to the vintage colonial home that houses chef Julien Royer's childhood memories of home cooking. It's an especially recommended place to pop the question for art lovers and certified foodies.

If you're looking for a grand setting, without a doubt, Caprice is the place. Large and impressive chandeliers hang in front of floor-to-ceiling windows that offer an impressive view of Hong Kong. The French cuisine fits right in this superior setting. Just before you ask the question, Guillaume Galliot's innovative creations are extra points to that sweet yes.

This Lantau park serves the perfect backdrop to propose. Inspiration Lake is an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown Hong Kong and the place to enjoy a leisurely stroll and picnic. You can either ask the question while getting sunkissed during a picnic or at the arboretum that is surrounded by lush greenery and the sparkling lake.
How to get there: Take the MTR to Disneyland Station and walk for about 15 minutes to Inspiration Lake
Victoria Peak Garden
Pop the question at the beautiful Victoria Peak Garden, located just 10 minutes from equally stunning Victoria Peak. The garden was originally the gardens and grounds of the Governor of Hong Kong's summer residence. The Victorian-style pagoda is the best spot to get on your knees and score that yes.
How to get there: Walk or hike up Mount Austin Road or catch the 15B bus. Alternatively, you can also take the taxi or the Peak Tram.
