Ahead of Dato’ Sri Bernard Chandran’s debut bridal showcase at St. Regis KL, we entered the atelier to witness final touches to his ‘fairytale, vintage and contemporary’ collection.

It’s merely days to showtime, and Dato’ Sri Bernard Chandran is fighting time in his atelier, feverishly putting together dazzling gowns of every bride’s dream. He moves like lightning from room to room, checking in on his army of seamstresses for a minute, delicately stringing gold butterfly embellishments the next, and greeting models for last minute castings.

Dato’ Sri Bernard is preparing for a milestone in his design career: A specially crafted bridal collection to be unveiled at the finale of the St. Regis KL Weddings Redefined month, on November 18, 2017.

For the past 25 years, the Malaysian king of fashion has only designed custom-made bridal gowns for clients, and it took him 40 days to piece together over 30 gowns for this anticipated couture line.

Above "It's hard to please everyone involved – bride, mother, mother-in-law – hence why I designed according to 3 main themes" -- Dato' Sri Bernard Chandran, on his inspiration.

“I think weddings are very personal,” he said, in between the flurry of activity. “From experience, I listen to my clients’ stories then create their gowns. But it’s hard to please everyone involved – bride, mother, mother-in-law – everyone’s got their opinion on the dress, hence why I designed according to 3 main themes,” he explained.

We know for sure the collection is something special – he described to us fantastic colours, decorations inspired by his spring 2018 collection, and complex hand-stitched embroidery and sequins, upon volumes and layers of luxurious fabric.

Our imagination can only run wild, till the big unveil of Bernard Chandran Bridal.
