Stacked engagement rings take centre stage in this collection

Did you know that wedding dress designer extraordinaire Hayley Paige designed five wedding dresses for her own nuptials? The creations from the New York designer's label have graced many aisles and now, she is taking her role further by designing a line of engagement rings with jeweller Hearts On Fire.

Malaysia Tatler caught up with the designer to discuss the new collection of diamond engagement rings. She describes each piece as "telling a story and emitting energy that synchronises with the spirited beauty wearing it."

What is the theme of the Hearts On Fire x Hayley Paige collection?

Hayley Paige (HP) Each engagement ring in the collection is inspired by an iconic Hayley Paige wedding dress, so it’s all about those special nuances of design and personality.

What was the process of designing the collection like?

HP The development and design process was equal parts collaborative and authentic. I wanted to approach the collection similar to the way I create a wedding dress collection: with a joyful sense of vulnerability and playfulness.

There are brides who favour yellow and white gold jewellery for their big day. What would you say to brides who have yet to try wearing rose gold, which makes up a large part of the collection?

HP This collection is meant to be worn freely and without conforming to fashion rules. I encourage the idea of staying mindful in what captures your eye and indulging in what you find most exciting. Rose gold is a perfect way to express your personality and play with colour options.

I particularly love mixing metals and keeping the look totally eclectic and fun!

Why did you decide to incorporate pink sapphires?

HP The pink sapphire is not only an opportunity to have a signature element for the collection but it also symbolises the design's candidness and sincerity. Something like a “pinky promise”.

What kind of bride do you envision wearing this collection?

HP This might sound like a cliched answer, but it's really any type of bride—or even a girl who just wants to express herself and feel empowered. This collection is meant to be inclusive and adventurous.
