Already having breakout prone skin, when the Covid-19 pandemic started and we began the daily habit of wearing face masks, I relied heavily on my old faithful: Caudalie's Vinopure Clear Skin Purifying Toner to combat maskne. It's a product I always come back to, even when my skin is clear as it instantly refreshes and leaves your face feeling ultra clean at the end of the day––with the addition of salicylic acid helping to fight any pesky spots, while still being gentle on sensitive skin. To keep my skin hydrated, I've recently fallen in love with Drunk Elephant's Protini Polypeptide Cream, which instantly makes your skin feel plump and hydrated, without ever leaving you greasy. When it comes to make-up, I am team Hourglass and highly rate the Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara. Not only does it leave your lashes looking long and defined, but the clever formula lasts all day long with no smudges––perfect if you're prone to panda-eyes––while washing off easily at the end of the day with only warm water.

My skin is oily, but super dehydrated, no thanks in part to our almost year round need for air-con and dehumidifiers here in Hong Kong. I was recommended Origins Drink Up Hydrating Overnight Mask by an ex-colleague and have been a devotee ever since. A small amount goes a long way, and it leaves my skin feeling so much more hydrated when I wake up in the morning! The other product that I repurchase time and again is Laura Mercier's Oil-Free tinted moisturiser. It's more like a light coverage foundation, but one that doesn't leave my skin feeling like it's caked in make up, and also doesn't make me look shiny or feel like I need to constantly keep touching up my make up during Hong Kong summers!

There are three skincare products I've hoarded for years: Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, a gentle rose-scented non-foaming face wash I use for my second cleanse every night after removing my makeup; Harry's soap, which is gentle on my eczema-prone skin, and which I'm literally stockpiling right now because it's been discontinued; and Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, which smells irresistible––like a combination of beach, summer, and dessert.

I love everything about the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. Its cooling jelly texture, the fresh scent, the glass packaging (single-use sheet masks are so wasteful) and how radiant my skin looks after using it. TN Dickinson’s Witch Hazel has been my go-to toner since I was in college and I can confidently say it will be my skincare staple for years to come. It’s an all-natural astringent, and costs HK$42 on iHerb. I recently picked up the Esse Resurrect Serum and my skin has looked and felt so much healthier for it. For hair, the Herbivore Sea Mist spray fulfills all my Bali beach wave dreams.

I can’t live without SPF. My 90-year-old self will definitely thank me for it. I discovered No.7’s Advanced Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream when I was in college and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s super hydrating and doesn’t leave that gooey residue on your face like most other sunscreens do. Another favourite is the St.Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub––the ultimate grand supreme of face scrubs. I use it 1-2 times a week in the shower and my skin feels as smooth as a baby’s butt afterwards. There’s a reason why it’s a classic.

Incredibly rich without being heavy, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream is my favourite daily moisturiser that works well with my sensitive, dry skin type. It hydrates and plumps the skin in a flash and I love to use it prep the skin before applying makeup. My another favourite product is Tatcha’s Kissu Lip Mask—a premium lip treatment that instantly moisturises and soothes dry lips. I use it every night as a lip mask.

I have a bad case of dry skin, no matter the weather. Kansoskin’s Hydrating Relief Cream has always come to my rescue to moisturise my skin. My other favourite is VT Cosmetics L'Atelier des Subtils Hand Cream (which comes with a lot of scents too!) and is perfect in keeping my hands smooth whether I’m writing or just out and about. Lastly, Drunk Elephant’s Lippe Balm keeps my lips from chapping.

I love trying new skincare, but since I started using prescription creams to treat acne last year, I’ve been using gentler, non-scented products. I love my CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser as my daily face wash, Hada Labo’s Hydrating Water Gel as moisturiser and Physiogel’s Daily Moisture Therapy Cream for around the eyes. For sunscreen, I loved Bioré's UV Aqua Rich sunscreen but switched it out for my new, alcohol-free favourite, Shiseido’s Anessa Perfect UV sunscreen skincare milk with SPF50+.
