Cover SK-II’s LXP Craftsmanship Series took centre stage at an exclusive pre-Ball masterclass hosted with Tatler Singapore introducing guests to the collection’s luxurious skincare formulations

Ahead of the Tatler Ball, guests gathered at Tatler House for an intimate evening of skincare discovery and pampering with SK-II’s LXP Craftsmanship Series

The perfect Tatler Ball look begins long before the final touches of hair and make-up. On September 29, Tatler and SK-II turned their attention to the complexion, welcoming guests to Tatler House for an intimate pre-Ball masterclass featuring the LXP Craftsmanship Series.

Tatler editor-in-chief Dana Koh opened the evening by highlighting the importance of preparing the skin in the weeks leading up to a special occasion. SK-II trainer Kaslyn then took guests back to where the brand’s skincare story began: the discovery of Pitera, its signature ingredient derived from a proprietary yeast fermentation process. Rich in more than 50 micronutrients, including vitamins, minerals and amino acids, Pitera has been central to SK-II’s skincare formulations for over four decades.

The evening’s focus, however, was on the LXP Craftsmanship Series, the brand's most luxurious skincare collection to date. Inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold, the collection draws on a philosophy that celebrates restoration and reinforcement. Rather than treating the passage of time as something to erase, SK-II approaches ageing through the idea of strengthening the skin and enhancing its natural radiance and resilience.

At the heart of the four-piece collection is SK-II’s highest concentration of Pitera to date, complemented by Gold Silk Sericin, a precious ingredient derived from a rare species of silkworm that took more than seven years to breed. The craftsmanship extends to the collection's presentation, with pottery-inspired packaging, delicate gold accents and an Aloeswood-inspired fragrance composed of 11 natural oils.

Kaslyn guided guests through the complete LXP skincare ritual, beginning with the LXP Essence, designed to hydrate and leave skin feeling silky smooth. Next came the LXP Serum, which targets firmness and elasticity, followed by the LXP Eye Cream, formulated with Chrysanthemum Extract to care for the delicate eye area. The routine concluded with the rich yet lightweight LXP Cream, designed to seal in moisture and nourish the complexion overnight.

Beyond introducing the products, Kaslyn shared practical advice on incorporating them into a daily skincare regimen. Gentle pressing and tapping motions, she explained, can help with application, particularly around the delicate eye area. She also emphasised the importance of consistency, encouraging guests to begin their skincare preparations at least two to three weeks before the Tatler Ball to allow sufficient time for visible improvements.

The experience extended to the refreshments, with gold-accented canapés and drinks inspired by the colours and textures of the LXP collection. Over champagne and light bites, guests mingled and exchanged skincare tips, making the most of an evening devoted to looking and feeling their best.

As the countdown to the Tatler Ball continues, the masterclass served as a timely reminder that preparation for a special occasion need not be confined to the wardrobe or dressing table. For guests, it was an opportunity to give their skin a little extra attention ahead of one of the year's most anticipated celebrations.
