Looking for a refreshed and sculpted look without resorting to invasive treatments? Then you should give Margy’s Plasma Botolift facial at The Peninsula Spa a try. This 100-minute facial treatment, designed by skincare brand Margy’s Monte Carlo founder Margie Lombard, is intended to nourish the skin, boost elasticity and reduce wrinkles.
It combines the benefits of cold plasma technology—through a non-laser treatment device that rejuvenates the skin, evens out discolouration and encourages collagen production which improves skin elasticity—and stimulating massage to contour the face. In addition, the treatment uses Margy’s Monte Carlo products that are full of ingredients well loved within the skincare industry.

Walking into The Peninsula Spa, I immediately felt relaxed by the dark wooden interiors and warm lights, a feeling that deepened as I entered the private massage room that looked over the stunning Victoria Harbour. Waiting inside was Yoko Aubert, the global training director at Margy’s Monte Carlo, who started with assessing my skin before tailoring the treatment to my needs, and selecting products that’ll maintain skin health and promote radiance.
The treatment began with cleansing my face, neck, decolletage and arms with the Azulene Cleansing Milk. During the cleansing, a face steamer was used to open up the pores to better remove dead skin cells and any existing product from the skin. Aubert gently removed the cleanser with a warm washcloth, then applied the brand’s The Lotion No. 1, a liquid lotion formulated with orange flower extracts to replenish moisture.
Luxury treatment
With the quality of tap water varying across the world, Aubert takes no chances and uses liquid lotions instead of water to remove products from my face. Afterwards, she hydrated freeze-dried algae with more Lotion No.1 and applied it to my face and neck. The algae felt cool and slick on my face, and Aubert’s fingers glided on top of it for a firm and relaxing facial massage.
She explained that algae can revitalise the skin and deliver antioxidants to it, and that this algae treatment is unique to the facial, but most of the other products used can be purchased.
After this came the cool plasma device. Aubert focused the device on my existing blemishes to help soothe redness and inflammation. While I didn’t feel anything except the cold metal tip, a high-frequency buzzing sound indicated that the machine was working its magic, and a few hours after the facial, I noticed that my blemishes did appear less red.

Then came the most luxurious portion of the treatment: a decadent and focused massage over my face, neck, decolletage and arms using the Extra Rich Firming Mask, one of the brand’s most popular products. It contains ingredients such as kaolin clay to deep-clean the skin and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, and in combination (along with other ingredients, of course), the massage will moisturise, firm and brighten the skin.
Aubert kneaded away the tension in my jaw with impressively rapid finger movements, and always in upward motions to lift the face. She also massaged down the sides of my neck to assist drainage of water retention, and after the treatment I noticed the contours of my face and jaw looked firmer.
Following another warm washcloth to remove the mask, Aubert used a technique she employed on the algae and hydrated a freeze-dried collagen mask with Lotion No. 1 and applied it to my face. The mask covered my eyes and mouth to also hydrate the delicate skin of these areas. While the mask did its work, she massaged my scalp, neck, back, arms and hands, and I felt the tension in my body melt away and I drifted off momentarily.
Finally, Aubert completed the treatment with a final layer of moisturiser and eye cream, which she also applied to my lips. Not only did I now feel completely relaxed, I was also able to see the immediate effects of the facial in the form of a radiant glow.

Overall, the experience was decadent, and Aubert’s warmth and attentiveness were impeccable. The atmosphere at The Peninsula Spa was tranquil, and although at one point the faraway sounds of traffic in Tsim Sha Tsui brought me back to reality, the calming music soon drowned out the bustle of the world outside. The warm massage bed was a lovely touch, and helped my muscles to relax as I laid there for almost two hours.
This facial is suited to someone who appreciates an effective treatment that feels both refreshing and soothing, that focuses not only on the face but also to other parts of the body as well. Margy’s Plasma Botolift facial, as well as other facials in this exclusive menu, is available until March 31, 2023.
