Hong Kong-based skin and aesthetics doctor Rebecca Wong of Centralaser Skin and Laser Centre shares five ways to protect your skin during the summer months
Sunrays can age skin cells, cause wrinkles and sunburn, and even increase your risk of cancer. They also penetrate the skin more deeply during the summer months, and are the primary cause of ruined skin texture and elasticity.
Hong Kong-based skin and aesthetics doctor Rebecca Wong shares her top tips on how to protect your complexion, especially if yours is sensitive and can be easily irritated.
Apply and reapply sunscreen
Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 or above and that's labelled water-resistant and ‘broad spectrum’, which means that it targets both long wave ultraviolet A (UVA) and short wave ultraviolet B (UVB) sunrays.
Apply a palmful or two tablespoons of sunscreen to exposed skin 15 to 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours or straight after water activity. For make-up wearers, the routine should be: moisturiser first; sunscreen second; and make-up last.
