Blow dry bar COCOdry in Bangsar offers an insight into how they are operating in this new normal

We chat with May Chee Kim, founder of COCOdry, on how she's observing the social distancing guideline during this unusual time.

What's reopening the salon like after CMCO?

To create a safe environment for our customers, we've included face shields, face masks and hand gloves in our dress code. We can only accommodate six people in the salon at one time, with the customers seated 2m apart from one another. We've placed a "cactus" on chairs that are not being used.

We only accept online booking - there will be no walk-ins for now. Our regulars already know how to make a booking online since we’ve been practising that from the beginning.

What are the other SOPs?

Of course, we'll check customers' temperatures before we allow them to go to their seats. Sanitisation is done every time a customer leaves the chair. We also encourage cashless payments.

How will the hair washing, styling and treatment look like?

All hair stylists wear gloves during all our services. We also only do hair wash at the basins now, no longer at the chair. We also stopped our shoulder and neck massages.

How do you see the future for COCOdry?

We were only opened for three months before we have to close for MCO. It was scary at first but a great opportunity for me to learn, pivot and start our e-commerce store selling our hair masks, shampoos, conditioners and hair accessories. Change is the only constant in life and I’m really grateful and blessed that the response was better than we expected.
