Debut groomed, colourful nails for the festive season, with The Nail Parlour’s limited edition Raya Rose manicure and pedicure. The best part? The nail polish is Halal-certified and is wudhu-friendly, too.

It’s an understandable (and understated) struggle for Muslim women to indulge in a manicure and pedicure, especially when there's a lack of Halal products offered in the beauty range. Non-certified Halal nail polish poses a setback for women performing ablution and prayers, who are obligated to use breathable and water permeable nail polish.

At The Nail Parlour, their latest mani pedi goes over and beyond with the Halal-certified Raya Rose package, giving those celebrating the festive season the chance to adorn their nails according to the family’s Raya Aidilfitri colour theme (we hear maroon and coral are in!).

Warming Relaxation

Warm greetings from friendly, sincere staff make a cheerful welcome, followed by a hand soak and hot foot bath, to relax and sooth the skin and nails before the rejuvenating treatment begins. At this stage, the nail polish hues are introduced - take your time to select a favourite shade (or maybe 2).

Setting the Raya Rose apart from other mani pedi treatments, The Nail Parlour offers a nourishing limited edition products from Green Pharmacy. A dollop of rose oil and green tea infused scrub leaves a fragrant scent and baby-soft smoothness that’s tender and refreshing. Real honey is also mixed with the scrub and massaged well on the hands and feet.

Luxurious Masque

This next step might prove intimidating, at the sight of thermal mittens during this stage. When both the hands and feet are drenched with restorative masque of rose oil and shea butter (a great aroma combo), they are then covered with a sheet of plastic and gloved with warm mittens for 10 minutes. Don’t hesitate to ask the staff to adjust the temperature accordingly to your comfort.

After the masque is cleaned off with heated towels (honestly, an item on my list of favourite amenities), aloe rice milk is used and massaged onto the skin which felt more like a moisturising lotion, minus the stickiness.

Finally, the pièce de résistance of the whole ritual; polishing the nails. If you’re unsure about the shades you’ve chosen, you can still try them out and remove them since even the polish remover from Kester Black is Halal certified. The nail polish selection comes from ORLY, the certified Halal polish also known for its MuslimGirl.com collaboration.

2 weeks post my Raya Rose treatment, I can gladly say that the colour is still vibrant on the nails. Even after having the colour removed, my clean and polished nails are left with an adorable hint of pink, since I opt for a sweet glittering blush shade.
