Pauline Gan shares a candid account about her experience at Dental Remedy

For a woman who cares about the aesthetics, Pauline Gan was pleasantly surprised upon stepping foot into Dental Remedy’s spacious clinic in Bangsar’s Jalan Maarof. “It’s so nice and comfortable with a spa-like ambience, compared to typical dental clinics,” she remarks as she looks around, adding that the location is good for her as well since she lives around the vicinity.

She is here to do a teeth whitening treatment, her first time. “I heard from my friends that teeth whitening can be sensitising and make the gums feel painful, so I never tried it,” she explains. “But with Dr Jo, I didn’t feel anything (during the procedure). I felt comfortable, and it’s very nice, honestly. I just need to avoid things like red wine and coffee for the first week, which I don’t take anyway.”

Gan is very happy with the results of the treatment, saying that she can see the difference right away. “I was told that sometimes, you cannot see the effect immediately, but with this one, I can see that my teeth already looks lightened but still looks natural.” She did, however, felt a little bit of sensitivity soon after the treatment, but was assured it will pass after a while.

Another important factor for Gan is for the dentist to have good communication skills as this will increase the feeling of trust. She finds Tan to be very patient and easy to talk to. During the treatment, Tan keeps her abreast of what’s going on throughout the procedure and constantly checks with her on her comfort level. This makes her calm and relaxed. “As a dentist, it’s important for them to make a patient feel comfortable, and the way Dr Jo treats me makes me feel comfortable with him.”

She also speaks to Tan and his co-founder Cheng Yee about the clinic’s speciality, Digital Smile Design, as she is curious about it and might consider doing it in the near future to achieve a slimmer jawline.

But what really caught her attention are the Invisalign braces used to achieve the perfect smile.

During her mid-teens, her mom had her fitted for braces. Looking at her perfect rows of teeth, Gan says, “It was the right choice and I’m thankful my mom had me do it, but honestly, during the two years I wore it, it was so painful! This is the uppermost thing that worries me for my kids, but Dr Jo assures me that Invisalign is painless. I’m preparing my kids to get braces as well so I plan to bring them here.”

She also adds that her kids would find the clinic's interiors spacious and relaxing, where they can sit back, enjoy the comfy chairs, and have a space and power outlets for their gadgets as they wait their turn.
