Min Chor: "One thing that we have in common is that I always tell them to dress up properly whenever they go out. You don’t know who you’re going to meet – even at the wet market! I used to be a teacher, and when some of my students see me out in public, I wouldn’t want them to say, “Oh teacher, yesterday I saw you and you were so badly dressed!” No way. So I always make sure we dress up properly."
Marion: "Absolutely 100% agree that that was what I wanted to answer to that question. My memory of my mum when I was growing up was that she was always presentable when she left the house. And it didn’t matter where she was going: the grocery store down the street – or anywhere, really – there was always a little bit of lipstick, hair would be done up and she would have proper clothes on. And that’s my image of my mum, always.
"She was a teacher, so I knew it was about meeting students at unexpected moments and not looking like a mess (a hot mess)! So that’s me now … I’m always so presentable, and I could be flying off at an ungodly hour and be meeting friends and they’d ask, “How do you look like this?"
I'd say that it honestly took me all of 5 minutes to look like this. I don’t spend too much time on hair and makeup. However, you could always make time to make yourself look presentable. I tell these to young girls: You never know who you’re going to meet. It could be your future husband, your future employer, and you would honestly leave an impression if you look good! You don’t have to look dolled up to perfection … you just have to look decent."
