The new Les Écrins Parfumés Cartier scented candles take you closer to nature

Turning your home into a sanctuary requires minimal effort these days. It can be as simple as using perfumery to instantly elevate any room, such as in the form of a luxurious scented candle. And when it comes to fine things, few do it quite like maison Cartier. To celebrate the art of fine objects and perfumery, the French luxury brand has launched Les Écrins Parfumés Cartier, a new range of scented candles that takes inspiration from nature. Each candle in the collection is housed in a reusable ceramic holder that borrows from the codes of the iconic Cartier box—think its emblematic shape, garland motif and instantly recognisable red hue.

Available in four scents—Pétales, Désert, Canopée and Neige (set to launch in October this year)—dreamed up by Cartier’s in‐house perfumer Mathilde Laurent, the candles are designed to connect users to nature. “Through smoke, the origin of perfume, I wanted to offer the possibility to create amazing landscapes, real or imaginary, at home,” Laurent shares. “By lighting the Écrins Parfumés, we can rediscover the joy of moments spent in nature and invite everyone to enter into this unexplored sensory world of fragrance.”

Pétales, for example, transports one to a field of blooming flowers on a radiant morning with its fresh, floral aroma, while Désert, with its earthy scent, conjures a boundless sandscape across which a slow breeze gently stirs the dunes that dot the horizon. Canopée, meanwhile, takes one on a flight like no other: soaring like a bird high above an expanse of green woodland evoked by the woody, botanical notes. The beauty of these Cartier candles lies in the fact that they can be used individually or together. Each candle has its own aura, but when all are lit together, the result is an intense blend of fresh, warm, green and soft scents.

As objets d’art, the candles make perfect gifts on top of being delightful accessories for the home. Frills come in the form of simple but gorgeous bell glasses with wooden bases, adorned with Diabolo de Cartier motifs, including panther spots and even the Panthère herself, between two cypress trees. Also available are Panthère de Cartier matchboxes (large model; sold in a set of three) and a panther lighter—all the better to build your very own Cartier olfactory universe at home.
