While we are familiar with the 10-step skincare routine, have you heard of the Korean term, 'chok chok'? Used to describe incredibly luminous, dewy skin that we aspire to have, let's find out from this South Korean beauty guru on how achieve it

After moving to Singapore with her family, entrepreneur, marketing expert and mother-of-two Jungmin Lee founded Ksisters because she was frustrated that she couldn't find the beauty products she used in South Korea. So, she decided why not bring her favourite brands to Singapore?

In a recent virtual demonstration, Lee reveals her arsenal of skincare that lightens dark spots, hyper-pigmentation and blemishes; she also shares tips on how she maintains her plump, porcelain complexion.

Exfoliate but in moderation

When it comes to exfoliating, we often use toner-soaked cotton pads, chemical peels or gentle facial scrubs to clear away the build-up on our faces in order to avoid blackheads from forming. And while the aforementioned methods are perfectly fine, Lee introduces an alternative, non-invasive method using the Reclar Water Peeling Device.

  • After soaking your cotton pads with an exfoliating toner of your choice, place them on problem areas such as the T-zone or chin, and leave them up to 5 to 10 minutes before removal. (For sensitive skin types, soak your cotton pad with water first before adding the toner.)
  • Activate the water peeling function of the Reclar Water Peeling Device to clean your pores. Use gentle, upward motions with its metal tip.
  • To ensure better cleansing, moisturise your skin using the previously soaked cotton pads while peeling.
  • After exfoliating, rinse off the remaining exfoliant with water to avoid irritation.

Lee's go-to product is the Heartleaf Blackhead Cleanser by ECOM, which is infused with Centella Asiatica extract, Citrust extract and EFFIPULP Avocado Protein that calm, soothe and tighten skin.

For best results, Lee suggests using a soothing toner like the Heartlead Poreless Water by ECOM that hydrates and calms freshly exfoliated skin as this creates a base where ampoules, oils, moisturisers and facial masks can penetrate deeper. It minimises the appearance of pores too, as your skin's elasticity is improved and reduces the production of excess sebum.

A staple in any skincare enthusiast's collection, Vitamin C is an antioxidant known for revitalising one's complexion, brightening dark spots and even provides protection against sun damage. While classically paired with Vitamin E for extra nourishment and hyaluronic acid for a moisturising boost, Lee also says that niacinamide works just as well too. "Both ingredients help with revitalising the skin and can help smoothen out uneven skin texture," she explains. "It's great for reducing fine lines too."

In our warm climate, Lee observes that lightweight gel moisturisers work better, and recommends using the Spot Eraser Vita line by ECOM infused with kumquat extract.

Seal the deal with a LED massage

A more efficient, miniaturised version of LED Light Therapy Mask, the Reclar Water Peeling Device also performs two other functions: the G-Blue as well as the G-Red Ultrasonic massages using Galvanic Ion technology and phototherapy,

The G-Blue LED helps with nutrient absorption, which is especially useful when used to massage in vitamins, essences and mask packs while the G-Red LED improves skin elasticity and is best used with anti-ageing products.
