Rustan’s The Beauty Source and Tatler Philippines hosted some friends for an intimate get-together at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila to celebrate the month of love

During this love month, it is time to become more attuned to loved ones – ensuring joy is taken in celebrating the meaningful relationships and connections in lives. This is exactly what Tatler did in "Language of Love". Together with Rustan's The Beauty Source, love in all forms was celebrated – the lasting bonds of friendships, devotion shared between partners, and the unconditional love of family. As the sun set, the echoes of laughter and chatter among guests flooded in, all excited to share stories and eager to learn a thing or two from the experiences of those present.

The main event of the night was a series of engaging discussions and heartfelt narratives. The speakers, four pairs of individuals, explored the diverse ways in which love is understood, communicated, and experienced within relationships. Reflecting on the event, it becomes evident that love is a multifaceted phenomenon, and understanding its nuances can strengthen the bonds between partners.

The first pair was the mother-daughter tandem of Nicole and Natalia Ortega, opening the night’s discussion with the unique ways they perceive and receive love. From acts of service to words of affirmation, participants articulated their preferences with honesty and vulnerability, offering insights into their emotional needs from one another. Natalia shares, “We’re very different. Hers is acts of service, but mine is through words, and she finds it super cheesy. But she shows up and goes above and beyond for us when it comes to picking up after us and shows her love through basic and everyday things.”

Sisters-in-law Audrey and Michelle Pastelero then took the stage to share how their then-rocky relationship took a turn for the good. Because of how fond they are of each other now, it is unknown to most that their relationship wasn’t always smooth sailing. But for Audrey, she knew things would have to change as Michelle was to marry her brother-in-law – ultimately making them sisters. Audrey narrates, “When she married my husband’s brother, I said to myself, ‘Well, she’s family now’, and no matter what happens and whatever I thought or was in my head that I probably made up has to go away. I opened my heart, and she’s so easy to love anyway”.

Next up was Gel and Paolo Bugayong, who talked about how their love grew even stronger than it already was as they went through unthreaded waters in their lives. Recounting the milestones, challenges, and growth they've experienced together, "It was really during the start-up journey where I was able to show my support. It was a very uncertain time, and I just really had to take a leap of faith, trust in him, and be 200 per cent behind him. I knew we were in a sink or swim situation, and there was no other option but to do it together", says Gel.

Rosenthal Tee and her best friend wrapped up the discussion with a kind of love that most probably know all too well – friendship. They claim that their differences in interests, lines of work, and personalities are what help their relationship flourish. Rosenthal cheekily says, “I provide her with the fun and vitality she needs in her life. I am the chaos to her stability, and I think this is why our friendship has lasted this long.”

Throughout the evening, guests were able to try out some of the latest products from Rustan’s The Beauty Source, including pieces from Diptyque, La Prairie, L’Occitane, Shiseido, Deborah Lipmman, Phyto, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, L:a Bruket and many more. The myriad options in the market made it easy for guests to go the extra mile to impress a loved one with gift ideas for Valentine’s Day.
