Luxury skincare brand La Prairie collaborates with influential German art school Bauhaus to highlight inequality
Five talented women showcase their vision about their pursuit of harmony through The Women Bauhaus Collective, presented by beauty brand La Prairie. Their initiative aims to rectify the inequality of history while being expressive and mindful of the medium used for their art. It is also intended as an educational paradigm and for women to persevere in the arts. Specifically encapsulating the story of the women at Bauhaus who were too often overshadowed by their male colleagues; despite these obstacles, women continually excelled at the Bauhaus.
The resulting exhibition for Art Basel 2022 will feature architecture, texture, surreal photography, digital animation, and digital sculpture being used as mediums—all keeping true to Bauhaus' unmistakable geometric designs in La Prairie's iconic shade of blue.

We are particularly excited about Lauren Januhowski's contribution, Colonnade of Craft, that three screens of geometric shapes and three women caught in a dance like ritual. Encapsulating her vision of harmony is a sense of freedom and airiness—with neutral colours while still doting La Prairie's signature blue.

The other four artworks featured emphasise the same attention to detail of the artists' perception of harmony, including Jasmine Deporta's Out of The Blue, Gloria Fan Duan's Wishbone, Kristin Chan's Magnify and Talia Glochin's Euphoria.
All the artists are mentored by award-winning designer Sabine Marcelis, who has been operating an eponymous studio since graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Keeping to the concept of Bauhaus, the artworks will be featured in “Gesamtkunstwerk” or “total work” layout—this is where different artworks together form a cohesive and balanced whole.
You can catch these artworks virtually in September when they are unveiled in a scenography designed by Marcelis herself on Art Basel online viewing rooms.
