With so many small shop spaces and bland department stores, shopping for beauty products in Hong Kong isn’t always the most inspiring of experiences—but the city still boasts its fair share of beautiful boutiques, if you know where to look. Featuring gorgeous interiors and equally gorgeous products to match, here are a few of the most Instagrammable beauty boutiques in Hong Kong:

1. Officine Universelle Buly

High ceilings, tiled floors, endless cabinets filled with enticing lotions and potions—Officine Universelle Buly is the kind of shop space you thought simply didn’t exist in Hong Kong anymore. Whilst Buly’s antique apothecary aesthetic gives it an atmospheric vintage vibe, the brand was actually only launched in 2015, taking inspiration from an 18th century Parisian dispensary.

With a stunning interior that’s part Hogwarts, part Westminster Abbey, Buly’s extensive range of products are just as Instagrammable—including gleaming gold-and-white perfumes, glass bottles of botanical oils and distinctively-patterned tubes of hand cream, plus the option to personalise your purchase with beautifully calligraphed packaging.

2. Aesop

As every interior designer’s favourite beauty range, it’s no surprise that Aesop delivers equally wow-worthy stores of their own; in fact, the Australian brand prides itself on crafting a different aesthetic for each of its boutiques around the world… and with nine stores currently in Hong Kong, we’re spoilt for choice with their trademark elegant, minimalist spaces.

Best of the lot might just be their Harbour City store, which features a large curving pebble wash sculptural piece as its focal point—complete with a trio of rustic gold taps in its sink area. Further pebble wash shelves arc around the store, whilst a subtle colour palette of grey and off-white tones adds to its overall calming ambience. Factor in plenty of neat rows of their famous amber-tinted glass bottles and the place is total #interiorgoals.

3. Le Labo

This indie New York fragrance label was created as an antithesis to mainstream, big-name perfume brands—and their boutiques, including their Hong Kong outposts on Star Street, ifc mall and (upcoming) Fashion Walk, take a similarly idiosyncratic approach. Think stripped-back industrial chic combined with a contemporary science-lab feel; a unique blend of white tiled walls, dark hardwood surfaces and stainless steel accents that perfectly complement their simple-but-stylish scent bottles.

The laboratory element of the store comes into its own once you purchase a fragrance. All Le Labo perfumes are hand-blended to order, meaning they’ll stay fresh for longer; staff will create a personalised label for each bottle, whilst Le Labo’s metal scent travel tubes can also be engraved with your initials whilst you wait for that extra special Insta humblebrag.

4. Bathe To Basics

This home-grown organic skincare, bath and body line has a striking clean look that puts many less well-designed international brands to shame—as evidenced by their gorgeously light and airy boutique, located in design hub PMQ.

In keeping with its all-natural ethos, Bathe To Basics’ Kinfolk-ready space showcases earthy wood tones, fresh greenery and other perfectly-chosen plant-inspired touches. Make sure you hold onto their signature brown bottles once your product runs out; the store offers refill stations for its liquid body and hand soaps, shampoo and conditioner—giving you the perfect excuse to return if you forgot to snap some photos first-time round.

5. Parfumerie Trésor

With so many shops embracing simplicity, Parfumerie Trésor’s flamboyant red-and-black design stands out from the crowd in style. Inspired by 1950s Parisian ladies’ boudoirs, this Sheung Wan boutique comes complete with a cascading chandelier, plush sofa, gilded display cabinets, leather travel trunks and far too many other quirky knick-knacks and vintage curiosities to mention… exactly the level of detail you need to set up some fantastic lifestyle shots.

It’s a wonderfully fitting backdrop for Parfumerie Trésor’s impressive collection of artisanal, independent and one-of-a-kind perfume brands from around the world, many of which can’t be found elsewhere in Hong Kong. The store also hosts regular perfume appreciation workshops and meet-the-founder events, for even more Insta-opportunities.

6. Atelier Cologne

Thanks to its Venetian blue storefront, there’s no missing an Atelier Cologne boutique when you walk by—especially once you’ve clocked their captivating display of hundreds of vibrantly coloured leather cases, all crafted to house their travel-sized cologne-inspired fragrance bottles.

With the rest of the store kept pretty simple, with warm wood flooring and vintage metal lamps and stools, it really is all about that rainbow wall of travel cases. Even better, these can be personalised with your name, initials or a short message there and then during your visit, courtesy of an in-store engraving machine—so make sure you get a video of staff in-action for some excellent Instagram story material.

7. I Never Use Foundation (INUF) Breakfast Club

A mindful and earth-conscious lifestyle concept store in Tsim Sha Tsui, I Never Use Foundation (INUF) Breakfast Club specialises in Responsible Skincare, a natural, vegan range developed specifically for Hong Kong's humid climate.

Step inside, you will find an inviting space where their products are beautifully lined up on the white marble tables with natural light coming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. On the side, there's a "Green Beauty Bar" where you can make your own face or body scrub made with 100% vegan and natural ingredients.

Every corner is Instagram-worthy and echoes with the brand's eco-friendly ethos, and you must not miss INUF’s Skin Spa, which offers a wellness sanctuary for urban dwellers to slow down and enjoy their face and body treatments using their in-house products.
