Introducing Louis Vuitton’s First Fragrance Collection For Men | Tatler Asia

Louis Vuitton has released its debut fragrance collection for men. And it’s olfactory wanderlust in a bottle. Master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the nose behind the French maison’s women’s scents, has formed five individual fragrances with ingredients captured during his travels, and pays homage to the modern adventurer. And with Louis Vuitton, there’s a scent for every voyageur.

1. Immensité

Louis Vuitton’s “sharp-edged and powerful perfume,” Immensité flows like “an infinite inner journey,” according to the house notes. Walking you on that journey self-discovery, the scent emits the bitterness of grapefruit, spiced by ginger, rubbed with remedial labdanum and an overdose of ambroxan, touched by a sensual amber note.

2. Nouveau Monde

Nouveau Monde is the physical crossing into unchartered lands. Inspired by 19th-century explorer, Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza—one of Louis Vuitton’s earliest clients—the scent is based on Mayan chocolate, offering the “suave side of cocoa” and incense. The leathered oud scent mixed with saffron gives this one a rugged zest of energy.

3. Orage

Orage is an ode to nature and the raw force of the elements. The ‘storm’ fragrance is a mix of the “elegance of iris with a patchouli heart.” Crowned with a musky note, the hints of bergamot blend with the earthiness of Javanese vetiver roots.

4. Sur La Route

This is the house’s ‘on the road’ fragrance, and embraces travel as the journey taken, not the destination. The Kerouacian scent blends Calabrian citrus, cedar, lemon, bergamot and Peruvian balsam, clipped with a “few blades of freshly cut grass that give the perfume its raw, green accent.”

But it’s not all zest; the scent captures one of the most beautiful balsamic notes in perfumery: Peruvian balsam.

5. Au Hasard

For the risk-taker, Au Hasard is like “holding your breath and daring to take a plunge from the top of a cliff.” Cultivated in creamy Indian sandalwood, the fragrance is infused with spicy cardamom mix and the fruitiness of ambrette, the seeds of the petal producing pear liqueur and vegetal musk.

Louis Vuitton Men’s fragrance collection will be launched worldwide on May 31, 2018.
