It’s been a whirlwind year for French actress and musician Charlotte Gainsbourg, who has, while in the middle of shooting a film with director Arnaud Desplechin and recording her new solo album, recently launched a make-up collection with NARS.

What can’t you leave the house without?

Smith’s lip balm.

My mother (Jane Birkin), Charlotte Rampling, Brigitte Bardot.

Favourite beauty indulgence?

Laughs.

Favourite skincare product?

I tend to use a skin care line called Biologique Recherche. I come back to it each time I wander off and try new things.

Best beauty advice you’ve ever received?

“Don’t put too much on.”
