Dr Felix Li shares more about his signature beauty treatment and his hopes and visions for the local aesthetics scene
As people around the world settle into a new year and new beginnings, it’s only natural for various trend forecasts to appear. And for some of us, upcoming beauty trends are some of the most anticipated highlights at the start of each year. It can get a little challenging to keep up with new products or trends to add to your beauty regime, as part of our quest to look good and feel good. But there’s one aspect in the world of beauty where trends should not matter—non-surgical facelifts.
Today’s patients are more discerning and decisive in terms of what they want to achieve in the doctor’s office. More of them are educating themselves as information on aesthetic treatments as well as doctors can be accessed easily through a plethora of resources.
Dr Felix Li, the founder of Dr Felix Li Medical Aesthetics Clinic, appreciates such well-informed patients, and wants to do more for them as well.
“Communication is key to helping patients understand the cause of her concern and the science behind different treatment options,” says Dr Li. “This is to help her avoid unsafe or unsuitable treatments, prioritise high-impact over low-impact treatments and choose treatments that could most effectively address her primary motivations, and her short- and long-term aesthetic goals.”
It may be a common misconception that those who go for aesthetic treatments are “insecure” about their looks or have a desire to look like their favourite air-brushed celebrities. But in reality, that is no longer the case for the modern female.
According to Dr Li, aesthetic treatments are increasingly viewed and accepted by patients as anti-ageing solutions that can help them reduce or reverse the changes that may have appeared on their faces over time.

Dr Felix Li’s Signature Facelift
To better serve his patients’ needs, Dr Li offers his own Signature Facelift which helps with slowing down the rate at which a person’s face changes with age. This specially designed filler treatment looks past superficial hollows and lines and focuses instead on bony architecture, soft tissue support and facial fat distribution.
It helps a patient look less tired, less saggy, less sad or angry; while also keeping the patient looking young for her age—at any age. As this filler design goes beyond merely hiding the signs of ageing, to reversing the natural process of ageing as closely and directly as possible, it helps the patient look like a younger, slimmer, more refreshed version of herself, with no evidence that any treatment has been done.
“As we age, our faces change and may no longer accurately convey the messages of how we really feel,” Dr Li shares. “Some of us may look tired when we are actually energetic or look old when we feel ready to take on new challenges. Going beyond beauty, this treatment helps the patient’s face convey accurately the emotions she feels, leaving a first impression of who she really is.”

The Future Of Facial Aesthetics
Aesthetic treatments used to be trial and error in nature for both doctors and patients alike. Today, aesthetic treatments are increasingly well studied and understood by doctors. And as such information is more widely available to patients, today's patients are increasingly keen to arm themselves with the information that will help them make the best treatment choices.
On the other hand, the age of information unfortunately also means wrong information is everywhere, and misinformation relating to medical treatments can potentially be harmful, even irreversible. As such, patients are increasingly looking to differentiate fake news from science, to avoid time and money wasted at best, and complications at worst.

With the launch of his new clinic in Wisma Atria, Dr Li aims to provide the best results and best care for his patients.
As Dr Li puts it, going to the gym was something reserved only for professional athletes or even bodybuilders. Yet today, men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes work out together in gyms to lead a healthier lifestyle, as it helps them look and feel good in the short term while slowing down the rate of physical decline with ageing.
“My hope for the field of aesthetics in Singapore over the next decade is for doctors to deliver good results consistently and safely,” Dr Li says. “I hope this will help patients better understand and trust aesthetic treatments, and give them the confidence to incorporate such treatments into their lifestyles not unlike going to the gym … in the process rediscovering the best version of themselves while slowing down the rate at which their faces and expressions change as they age.”
Ultimately, when it comes to aesthetic treatments, thorough consultation and professional assessment are pertinent to understanding what the patient wants and needs, while knowledge, experience, acumen and a specialised set of skills are key to translating them into the results that the patient desires. For this, Dr Li resolves to continue supporting efforts in medical education and research in the field of medical aesthetics, in Singapore and around the world.
