The fragrance unfolds in five luminous expressions, echoing the five points of Dior’s talismanic star and inspired by the Centifolia rose, a flower that has long been central to Christian Dior’s creative vision.
A zesty brightness rises first before giving way to juicy, fruity notes of lychee, raspberry and pear. A whisper of Sichuan pepper brings warmth to the spicy facet, while a velvety, musky accord softens the edges. There are so many varieties of rose it is easy to get lost!” Kurkdjian says. “And yet, paradoxically, we only use two species in fragrance compositions: Damask rose and Centifolia rose, also called May rose. Christian Dior adored the latter, and the House chose to continue his dream by cultivating it across entire hectares of land in Provence.
