Cosy cable-knit nails
Perfect for winter, cable knit nail art is a gorgeous trend that can be created with any colour combinations. Whether you prefer more of a minimalist look with a single shade, or want to go all out with sparkling snowflakes, just like this design by Christy, sweater nails will always evoke a Christmas vibe and look great with any outfit. If you want it to be more eye-catching, pair the sweater pattern with glittery red polish and candy canes to finish off the look.
All the festive motifs
Can’t decide between Santa, Rudolph, snowflakes, candy canes, or Christmas trees? Why not wear all of your favourite holiday motifs to rock the mismatched nail trend? “The great thing about mismatched nail art is that you can play around with different combinations of embellishments, colours, and placements of decals for a look that matches well with your personal style,” says Christy. Embrace the festive vibe and wear some gold jewellery to make a statement.
If you’re not a big fan of bright reds or anything overly festive, this look with cool blue tones that reminiscent of a winter wonderland by Christy, is a great design to copy. Pair your favourite blue polish with a sparkly shade from the same colour family, and add snowflakes against the shimmering nude or pink base coat for an Instagrammable festive manicure that’ll get you through the New Year.
Silver glitter nails
This silver glittery manicure is all you need to accessorise any party ensemble this Christmas—who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle during the festive season? “Glittery nails are a great choice for the woman who isn't afraid to stand out,” says Christy. “The shimmering silver shade will catch the light wherever you walk and is sure to turn heads.”
If you’re not into red shades, this abstract manicure is ideal for the holiday season—and it’s easy to create that you don’t have to sit for hours to get it. “Abstract styles have been a major trend this year as people looking for more creative designs to express themselves,” says Rachel Apfel Glass, founder of Glosslab.
“Combined with the modern take on the usual Christmas nail colours, the blue and white swirls over a sheer nude base is perfect for anyone who loves a subtle way to celebrate the season through beauty.”
Warm tones make for a wonderful wintery manicure and one of the most popular ways to experiment with the trend, is the use of solid, neutral tones of brown. “Single-coloured manicures can always give you a polished appearance and draw attention to your hands,” says Rachel.
“From deep mahogany hues to beige tones, this simple nail design will remind you of the warmth of a hot chocolate and is bound to get you in the holiday spirit."
Cute gingerbread man nails
This gingerbread man manicure by Urban Chillez Nail Bar’s is the cutest option for Christmas nails. Base in complementary colours is the key to this design, which involves painting nails with alternating navy and grey shades, hand-painted gingerbread and other holiday motifs including snowflakes and abstract Christmas trees for a lovely look that will have you smiling every time whenever you look at your fingertips.
Burgundy and milky white nails
It doesn’t get more festive than a set of nails featuring beautiful burgundy and white shades. “This colour combination is often favoured in the winter months, and will not look out of place after Christmas,” says Kerry Tsang, founder of Urban Chillez Nail Bar.
For a truly eye-catching look, pick an accent nail or two and add festive decals such as little hearts and reindeer—then leave the rest with solid polish to keep things simple and stylish.
Nothing screams festive season than colourful twinkling lights. Here, Kerry took the classic motif to the next level with a merry combination of red and turquoise shades, which is accompanied by an accent nail with Santa Claus for a look that’s sure to be a conversation starter.
