Due to the coronavirus pandemic, social media’s favourite makeup brand Becca Cosmetics is forced to come to an end

All good things come to an end. With that being said, makeup brand Becca Cosmetics will be shutting down this year.

In a statement posted on Instagram and on its official website, Becca Cosmetics shared that its products will no longer be available to shop after September.

“The global pandemic has had an impact on everyone around the world on many levels. It has also had a tremendous impact on so many businesses. At BECCA, an accumulation of challenges, together with the global impact of Covid-19, has sadly been more than our business can withstand, and we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to close down the Becca brand at the end of September 2021,” read the statement.

Any self-respecting makeup junkie will possess at least one, if not more, of Becca’s well-loved highlighters. These bad boys have been released in several versions as part of limited-edition collaborations with celebrities and beauty influencers. But one of the products that probably helped propel Becca Cosmetics to makeup superstardom and achieve cult status was its iconic Champagne Pop highlighter—let’s just say that even Kylie Jenner was a fan of this highlighter before she started her own cosmetics brand.

Youtube makeup guru Jaclyn Hill also played a significant role in adding hype to the shade, making it one of the brand’s bestselling items. She had a special collaboration with the brand in 2017 as it released a Collectors Edition of the highlighter with a bottle of bubbly imprinted inside and packaged in gold.

Besides Hill, other famous names such as Chrissy Teigen and Khloe Kardashian also had popular makeup collaborations with Becca Cosmetics.

The public reactions of the brand’s loyal fans can be seen all over its Instagram and Twitter pages, with many expressing sadness and shock. Others wanted to know how long will they be able to shop Becca Cosmetics’ products before they’re gone from shelves.

Estee Lauder Singapore released a statement to say: “We are so proud of the Becca brand team and all that they have accomplished over the years. We are handling this matter with sensitivity, both internally and externally. For those who have supported the brand for 20 years, and those who will stand by the brand through this wind-down, we thank you.”
