Experience the newest vivacious scent from Omani high perfumery house Amouage, featuring notes of tart hibiscus and buttery palmiers—plus, discover the Amouage Secret Garden pop-up at Escentials this July
Amouage has never been a perfume house that plays it safe. Since its founding in Oman in the 1980s, it has built its reputation on fragrances of genuine complexity—rich, layered compositions that take their time to unfold and rarely explain themselves upfront. The Secret Garden Collection, launched in 2016 and reimagined in 2024, sits slightly apart from the rest of the range. Where the mainline Amouage perfumes tend toward grandeur, the Secret Garden is more intimate—a series of portraits of contemporary femininity, each one pairing a floral note with a gourmand twist to produce something neither category could achieve alone.
So far the collection has explored lilac with cocoa bean, cherry blossom with amaretto, tuberose with chantilly cream. For its latest addition, Love Hibiscus, chief creative officer Renaud Salmon looked no further than the landscape outside his front door.
Hibiscus grows everywhere in Oman—vivid, papery-petalled, and so commonplace that it is easy to overlook. Salmon stopped overlooking it. The flower’s scent is not what you might expect from something so visually bold: it is tart, faintly earthy, and berry-like, with a softness that only reveals itself slowly. The gourmand counterpoint he chose to pair it with is just as specific — palmiers, the caramelised, flaky French pastry his mother used to bake. Sweet and buttery where the hibiscus is sharp and herbal. The contrast is deliberate.

Perfumer Jérome Epinette, working with Amouage for the first time, keeps both elements intact rather than smoothing them into something easier. Passion fruit sits between them, pulling in both directions. Frankincense steadies the whole thing. Sandalwood, cypriol, and vanilla do the work of grounding it. On paper it sounds like an odd combination. On skin, it is surprisingly cohesive.
The bottle is hibiscus red, with a ceramic finish that has a slight texture to it—closer to a peach skin than glass. A small detail, but memorable and thoughtful.
Love Hibiscus is available from June 1, 2026 at Amouage Raffles City, Amouage in Takashimaya, Escentials Ion, Paragon, and Tangs.
Discover the fragrance yourself at any of our boutiques and at the Amouage Secret Garden pop-up at Paragon from July 17 to 30. Be sure to also spot Carter the Caterpillar at Escentials Paragon from June 19 to July 2 and at Escentials Ion from July 3 to July 16.
