A family-owned champagne house in Hautvillers, now in its fourth generation.
Hautvillers, Grande Vallée; 8ha of estate vineyards in Hautvillers and Cumières planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier.
For an extremely affordable blended NV, this has a characterful, assertive aromatic profile and pleasing shape.
The brand has leaned into its hometown of Hautvillers, the home of Dom Pérignon, the Benedictine monk who is credited, somewhat inaccurately, as being the “father of champagne”.
Intriguing, with an ozone, metallic, beeswax character screeching over the top of its sweetish white grapefruit and lime fruit. The first note on the palate is of sweet citrus, with only faint echoes of the nose’s beeswax sharpness. The angles return by the finish, helping offset some of its sweetness, with only soft acidity. The finish is very chalky, replete with straightforward citrus fruit.
Spicy fried chicken, whether Korean or Southeast Asian

The first date you're not sure you'll like, but still want to impress
No, despite all the references to him, this is not Dom Pérignon, but the style is a little bit of an homage.
Intriguingly sharp nose, softly citrussy palate
