BENEFICIARY: Make-A-Wish Malaysia

Make-A-Wish Malaysia brings joy and hope to terminally ill children

Make-A-Wish Malaysia is an affiliate of Make-A-Wish International, the largest wish-granting organisation in the world, and is registered with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies, granting more than 600 wishes since it started in 2010.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia strongly believes in the life-changing power of a wish, serving critically ill Malaysian children between three to 18 years old coming from different locations in the Peninsular and East Malaysia.

Earlier this year, the organisation granted its 700th wish to 13-year-old bone cancer thriver May Cheil, who lives on a hilltop in Keningau, Sabah, and was gifted a pair of bunnies. Before her cancer diagnosis, May Chell represented her school at the Sabah state-meet netball competition. When the intensive chemotherapy treatments weren’t working, doctors told May Chell and her family that they had to amputate her right leg from knee down.

Today, May Chell and her family are staying hopeful that she can overcome this battle and join the Paralympic netball in the future.

Wishes not only transform the lives of wish children, but they also unite families and strengthen communities.
