While the vicinity of Orchard Road has changed dramatically over the decades, Grand Hyatt Singapore has been a fixture on the iconic street for 45 years. Furthermore, it has set the scene for countless unions between couples who subsequently return to mark their anniversaries and the nuptials of the next generation, making it a place that holds plenty of memories for couples.
With over 5,100 square metres of event space spread across 16 spots over three levels, there’s a venue to match every couple’s individual style and personality. Themed after a modern contemporary art gallery and designed by Super Potato, The Gallery on Level 1 incorporates a loft kitchen, a lounge, two ateliers, a ballroom, and even a couple changing room for that extra convenience. Guests could move from a relaxed pre-dinner event in the loft kitchen, where chefs and mixologists will prepare canapes and martinis a la minute, to a sit-down dinner in a gallery before adjourning to the lounge where plush ottomans invite post-dinner banter. While one of the ateliers can be used as a holding room for your bridal party, the other comes with a bridal changing room that allows couples to spend more time with their guests and less time on outfit changes. Moving up one level, you’ll enter a mansion-inspired space with four salons, a drawing room and a show kitchen within the Grand Salon.
The most opulent affairs, however, are held on Level 3, comprising five residences and two ballrooms with the capacity to hold 260 and 360 guests respectively. The Grand Ballroom has an extended digital canvas with powerful in-built projectors that enable dynamic video mapping as well as an edge-to-edge display of your pre-wedding video on both sides of the ballroom, while live feeds from built-in HD cameras will ensure guests don’t miss any of the day’s proceedings no matter where they are seated.
You can pick from set or buffet menus or customise one to suit your preferences. Every dish, from the signature slow-cooked kurobuta pork belly with fried rice in lotus leaf to individually-plated braised whole abalone with goose web, is prepared using premium, sustainably-sourced ingredients.
The hotel is also one of only a few here with a permanent Halal-certified banquet kitchen.
Event sales manager Bethany Tan offers some planning tips: “Have a rough estimate of the number of guests at your event, so you can zoom in on spaces that accommodate this number; pick a centrally located venue or at least one that is easily accessible by different modes of transport; and consider how your wedding theme will sit against the design of the venue and whether the events team can pull it off successfully.”
She adds, “Ask about deals and offers that come with your booking. The hotel may even be able to recommend suppliers whom they regularly work with, who could in turn offer discounts for the referral.”
Depending on the confirmed number of tables booked, couples tying the knot at Grand Hyatt Singapore in 2018 and 2019 will enjoy free-flow beer, and be granted exclusive wedding wishes such as pre-dinner canapes, a martini bar experience, a one-night stay for wedding helpers or a pampering treatment at the in-house Damai Spa. They will also earn World of Hyatt bonus points that are redeemable for free nights at any Hyatt Hotels & Resorts location worldwide without any blackout dates. A 15-table Chinese luncheon valued at US$10,000 and above, for instance, could earn you a two-night stay at Andaz Maui or five nights at Grand Hyatt Bali. Now that’s grand!

“We had our Marriage Solmnisation ceremony and dinner reception at The Gallery at Grand Hyatt Singapore in May 2017. We were drawn to the self-contained layout of the space, and the location of the bridal changing suite right next to the ballroom allowed us to spend more time mingling with our close friends and bridesmaids, instead of moving between ballroom and wedding suite. When it came to the food, our guests were most impressed with the presentation of the dishes, such as the braised whole abalone with sea cucumber which was served in individual claypots. Even before the meal, they were impressed with the pre-dinner cocktail reception at our very own private lounge area that is part of The Gallery. They were able to mingle over martinis at the pop-up martini bar and canapes were prepared a la minute at the integrated loft kitchens. The residential-style spaces and living room-inspired low tables and comfortable sofa seats made us feel like we were welcoming our guests into our home, a feeling that we couldn’t find in any other wedding venue! A couple who attended our wedding has already confirmed Grand Hyatt Singapore as their own wedding venue.”
