鍾睒睒和「水」怎麼結緣？1991年，企業家宗慶後併吞了杭州的罐頭食品廠，成立了「娃哈哈」集團，為中國著名的飲用水品牌。當時鐘睒睒曾代理娃哈哈於海南和廣西兩地的口服液，不過他和宗慶後拆分，失去區域經銷權。這曾名列2010年胡潤百富榜中國首富的宗慶後，可沒料想到，鍾睒睒創立的農夫山泉將是他日後生意上最大勁敵。
而鐘睒睒於1993年另創「海南養生堂藥業」，販售龜鱉丸讓他聲名大噪。這些經歷讓白手起家的鍾睒睒，今日旗下產業橫跨飲料、食品、保健品、生物醫藥等多領域。

農夫山泉，始於1996年的浙江千島湖養生堂飲用水有限公司，為了抵抗當時的勁敵：娃哈哈與樂百氏流通於市面的純淨水，鐘睒睒要做出市場區隔，生產來自水井、山泉、湖泊等地開採的天然水，掀起一場「世紀水戰」，大打「天然水優於純淨水」的概念。
而天然水的取得並不容易，鐘睒睒費盡心力，讓農夫山泉在水源的掌控上處於領先地位，旗下擁有約11處水源地，獲得了11個取水許可證，3個採礦許可證，成為「大自然的搬運工」，雖其後有不少爭議，但盈利方面徹底碾壓純淨水。從2012至2019年，農夫山泉曾連續8年穩居中國罐裝水市佔率第一。
另外他以行銷策略，打響「農夫山泉有點甜」稱號，使其得到「水中茅台」之美譽。經歷26年後，農夫山泉旗下有多元產品，包含天然水、天然礦泉水、飲料產品如茶飲、流行的氣泡水等。
4. 持有兩間上市公司股權

2020年，飲用水品牌農夫山泉在港交所掛牌上市，漲幅一度超過85%，鐘睒睒身價隨之飆升。根據農夫山泉的公開財報，2021年總收益高達296.96億元人民幣，淨利潤為71.62億元人民幣（約新台幣327億元）。

分別持有農夫山泉84%股權、北京萬泰75%股權的鐘睒睒，於近兩年聲量大漲，更衝上中國富豪榜榜首，成為賣「水」傳說。
