Tatler Bitcoin Elite brought together 80 international cryptocurrency professionals at The Magistracy for crypto leader Tracy Hoyos-López's birthday, as the second annual Bitcoin Asia conference drew global talent to Hong Kong
On August 29, at The Magistracy, a restaurant set within Tai Kwun’s cultural precinct, 80 crypto and Web3 leaders gathered for Tatler Bitcoin Elite, an evening that doubled as a birthday celebration for Tracy Hoyos-López, chief of staff for strategic initiatives at cryptocurrency exchange Kraken. The timing, coinciding with the last day of the Bitcoin Asia conference—where Hoyos-López was a speaker—drew attendees from the UAE, Puerto Rico, the United States and beyond, creating an international convergence of industry expertise in Hong Kong.
Tatler Bitcoin Elite was hosted by Michel Lamunière, chairman and CEO of Tatler Asia; Danny Yeung, founder of Prenetics and Insighta; and Akbar Butt, chief operating officer of Black Sheep Restaurants. The guest list included notable industry figures such as Abdulla Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Blockchain Center in Abu Dhabi; David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine; and Simon Gerovich, president of Metaplanet, representing various aspects of the global cryptocurrency ecosystem. Their attendance demonstrated Tatler Bitcoin Elite's function as a meeting point for Asian and international crypto leadership—but they were not beyond giving heartfelt speeches about the birthday girl nor joining in a spirited rendition of Happy Birthday when a sparkler-topped cake arrived.

Hoyos-López took some time for reflection. “My first job in this industry was with my friend [Bailey] at a Bitcoin conference. I am very proud of [what we have achieved] and it’s very dear to my heart,” said. She went on to express her love for Hong Kong and her friends in the city that have made it feel like home.
The crypto space is not always welcoming—but the evening revealed the crypto community’s collaborative approach, with attendees representing competing platforms and different geographical markets nevertheless engaging in dialogue about partnerships and shared challenges. Conversations extended beyond the formal programme, with participants continuing discussions about regulatory developments, technological advances and market strategies.
For Tatler, Bitcoin Elite was a demonstration of the company’s capacity to convene influential figures within the crypto space. The response from international attendees—many of whom had limited time in Hong Kong due to conference schedules—indicated the value placed on such targeted networking opportunities and the opportunities afforded by being in Hong Kong. Most expressed their intention to return for Bitcoin Asia next year when the conference takes place in August. Is another birthday celebration in the works for 2026? You’ll just have to stay tuned.
