Tatler Asia’s Most Influential 2022 honouree, Frederick Go, talks about his current projects and future goals
At one point in his life, Frederick Go wanted to pursue a career in journalism. His writing stints lasted for around three years until he ventured towards bigger goals in the business field. Having studied at Ateneo de Manila University, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering and was named the 2017 Hall of FAME Awardee by the Federation of Ateneo Management Engineers.
Since then, he has slowly made a name for himself. He is now known as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC); the president and chief executive officer of Universal Hotels and Resorts, Inc.—the developer and operator of the iconic NUSTAR Resort and Casino; the chairman of RL Commercial REIT, Inc (RCR)—the Philippines’ largest Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in IPO size; the president and CEO of Altus Property Ventures, Inc and chairman of Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD); and the vice chairman of the directors of Robinsons Bank Corporation, among others.

What are your projects in the last two years that you are most proud of? Why?
First, the NUSTAR Resort. It is the first and only luxury integrated resort development outside Luzon. The second is Clark International Airport—Luzon’s most beautiful and modern airport, and the second largest in the region. CRK is the flagship public-private partnership (PPP) showcase project of the Philippine government in recent years.
What challenges do you see now in your respective industry? How do you intend to help address these challenges?
Our industry is rapidly changing with the pandemic and digitalisation. In response to this, we are integrating agility and innovation into our business strategy, adopting new digital solutions, technologies, and process automation.
What can you say to those who want to follow in your footsteps?
You must love what you do. There is no substitute for hard work. And at the end of life, your reputation is all you have.
