No matter how high your net worth, or where you sit in the C-Suite, there’s nothing more valuable than your health. And there has never been a more poignant time than the present to consider the best available options.
A recent far-reaching survey conducted by Bupa Global in China and Hong Kong of 600 senior executives and high-net-worth individuals—who typically hold more than HK$10 million worth of liquid assets—revealed healthcare is often at the forefront of their minds.
Not surprisingly, most described busy lives juggling a host of priorities, while trying at the same time to eat properly and exercise regularly. 65 per cent of executives surveyed wish to improve their diet, while 71 per cent of executives surveyed expressed a desire to exercise more regularly. A substantial proportion said they would pay greater attention to their mental health as well. As well as experiencing mood swings, poor sleeping patterns and a lack of energy, 58 per cent of respondents reported experiencing anxiety.
The focus on mental health has been generated in part by the shift in the work-life balance as technology increases expectations for fast turnarounds and swift results, and is playing an increasingly important role in executives’ lives.
One thing that almost all the respondents agreed upon was a holistic view of health, meaning that it should embrace a balance between body and mind. And the majority reckoned that a wide-ranging healthcare plan was indispensable.
