Here’s what you missed:

Members of the Tatler community gathered at St. John’s Cathedral for an evening of merriment and charity for the 9th annual Fayre of St John’s—a soirée to benefit MCCC. Since 2008, MCCC has raised more than HK$14 million, which has gone towards providing cancer patients and their families with free holistic care services including emotional, social and psychological support.

Members of MCCC’s board of governors, including Anne Wang-Liu and Audry Ai-Morrow, attended the intimate gathering with their families. Actress Ankie Beilke returned for a second year to emcee the event, which included carol-singing and live and silent auctions.

“I am thrilled to see so many of our long-term supporters, as well as new faces in the house,” said Leong Che-hung, chairman of the board of governors for MCCC. “Christmas is a time of giving, which brings us joy, happiness and blessings—that is why we are here to celebrate today, with our hearts full of charity and love, and to share it with people around us and those in need”.

The Christmas concert kicked off with a welcome prayer by Reverend Kwok-keung Chan, followed by musical performances by Jonathan Yip and Alan Tsang, who sang Ding Dong Merrily on High and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Caitlin Yang followed with Underneath the Tree and Maggie’s Centre Music Therapy Choir performed a medley of Christmas carols, encouraging guests to sing along. Afterwards, the Swan Academy Children’s Choir had the audience on their feet with Christmas classics such as Jingle All The Way. Actress Michelle Reis and son Jayden Hui also took to the stage to read verses from the Bible.

Keith Yip, a member of MCCC who was diagnosed with stage three cancer in 2017, recounted his experience with the centre and shared how MCCC had empowered him and given him the strength and support he needed to soldier on.

After the touching Christmas service, guests including Leigh Tung-Chou walked the short distance to MO Bar at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for a festive afterparty. There, a live auction hosted by Georgina Hilton got everyone’s hearts racing. Artwork by Stephen King, private dinner experiences at Sai Kung and a harbour cruise with Princess Yachts went under the hammer, helping MCCC raise more than HK$1.1million during the evening.
