The Enchanted Garden of Life, which was the theme for Dover Park Hospice’s annual fund-raising dinner, made for a plant-filled evening. Almost everything—from the photo-taking backdrop to the cocktails to the terrariums on sale to raise funds—was inspired by an element in the garden. Because of the central theme, there was renewed hope in the air, which is something the hospice hopes to bring to its patients as they spend the last days of their lives in palliative care. At the gala dinner, Robert Chew, its newly appointed chairman of its governing council, announced expansion plans with more beds planned in the new building that the hospice will move into come 2022. The evening raised some $1.2million in donations and an additional $58,596 from the silent auction, all of which will benefit beneficiaries of Dover Park.
