There are lockdown strategies more effective than others. In this write-up, we rank the world's most COVID-resilient nations

The imminent threat of COVID-19 continues to loom across the globe almost two years after the initial lockdown was announced. The world has become aware of contagious COVID-19 when infected travellers from Wuhan, China arrived at a Taiwan airport. Without going for another blink, the country quickly haltered flights coming from different parts of China. The place has also stopped foreign cruise ships from docking, implemented widespread testing, and quadrupled production of face masks all in a span of a month.

In Taiwan, people who contracted the virus have also been given intensive support including stipends. These early actions were essential in keeping the country's COVID-19 toll under 800 cases all year.

Best in flattening the curve: NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand has also imposed systems that combat COVID-19, among them is the pandemic influenza plan that was laid out since February 2021. This implementation prepares hospitals and institutes border control policies.

Its Prime Minister Jacinda Arden exemplified clear communication and empathy amongst her constituents which generally increased citizens' willingness to cooperate in testing and contact tracing. The country has since reported low COVID-related mortality rates among 37 OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) nations.
