An evening of elegance and relevance, the Tatler Ball is at its core, an event to give back and raise awareness. This year, our annual auction was for the benefit of Connect:Ed by Her Legacy Project, get to know more below

The Tatler Ball is more than an evening of dancing, dining, and delivering speeches. It serves a higher purpose, reaching out to better society in a way that few others can. It has always acted as a platform for supporting great causes, such as the World Wildlife Foundation, the Child Protection Network, and Operation Smile.

Following a dialogue between Tatler Philippines’ managing editor Irene Martel Francisco and Secretary of Education Sonny Angara, Her Legacy Project, an organisation dedicated to uplifting women and young girls, was selected as this year’s beneficiary. Their Connect:Ed, Tech for All Campaign aims to equip several last-mile schools—located in some of the most remote and disadvantaged areas—with laptops and training to modernise their learning environments.

Karen Davila, the organisation’s founder, urged guests to support this noble cause. Her partner, Tootsy Angara, who grew up in the Cordilleras, also shared firsthand accounts of the struggle to obtain a quality education in these far-flung places.

The auction lots included Fish Vendors by Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Man and Woman by Geraldine Javier, a three-night stay at the acclaimed Banyan Tree Phuket, a phenomenal five-night stay in Argentina split between the Awasi Iguzazu Lodge and Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt, and finally, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Classic Night & Day ladies' watch.

Thanks to our friends’ generous hearts, we raised over P20 million for the benefit of Her Legacy Project from personal donations, auction proceeds, and pledges.

Preceding the auction was an awards ceremony, wherein Tatler Philippines recognised four individuals for their immense contribution to Philippine society. Data scientist Dr Erika Fille Legara received the Award for Science and Technology, social entrepreneur Cherrie Atilano was presented with the Award for Humanity, Mynt CEO Martha Sazon was given the Award for Business, and Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo received the Award for Culture.

About

Tobias wants to write things that make people think, laugh, and reflect. He’s especially proud when he can sneak in a cheeky pop-culture reference or a pun in his titles and articles.

He possesses a deep love of history, resulting from years of books, games, and museum visits. It was this fascination with the human endeavour that fostered his love of writing, spanning genres, tones, and moods. He one day hopes to write a novel—he just hasn't decided on a genre yet. A certified homebody, you'll often find him on the computer he built himself, binge-watching Seinfeld or House, playing his favourite gacha game, or reading a book.
