It is with great sadness that we share that Lainey Loh, the former digital director at Tatler Malaysia, has passed away
Lainey Loh, a digital strategist with a perceptive editorial instinct—equally adept at optimising client campaigns as she was at crafting high-performing stories—passed away on March 7, 2025. She was 42.
Joining Tatler Malaysia in September 2020 as digital director, Loh oversaw aspects of the brand’s online presence, from website performance and social media to EDM campaigns and client optimisations. But she wasn’t just behind the scenes during her time here—she was also a prolific writer.
In 2024 alone, her coverage of lifestyle, entertainment, and sports content drew more than 1.7 million page views across 100+ stories, a testament to her strong sense of what mattered to readers.
From the K-pop obsession she openly embraced to her sharp takes on the entertainment industry, she had the rare ability to see a moment before it became a trend, translating pop culture, global happenings, and local nuances into compelling narratives that readers devoured. Her writing was clear and timely, often covering cultural trends before they peaked. She left the company in November 2024.
Beyond her professional achievements, Lainey was known for her wide-ranging interests. She had a passion for K-dramas, documentaries, and music, often staying up-to-date with the latest trends. She loved animals, running, and social media, and she enjoyed long conversations over coffee, soju, or wine. Those who worked with her knew her as someone who was quick to share an opinion, always engaged in the conversation, and invested in the people around her.
Through her work, she leaves behind a record of the trends, conversations, and cultural moments that defined her time here. We remember Lainey through the stories she told, the conversations she sparked, and the passion she brought.
